Could you post pics of the finished door (i.e. with the door panel on) ? Would like to see what it looks like finally.

My two cents:

If I were you, I'd consider keeping the 10" and adding another 10". If you've anyway decided to spend some money extra, the options are:

Option 1: Buying another 10", making a new box, getting a good amp that can drive both IDs.

Option 2: Selling the current ID 10, taking a small loss on the original purchase price, buying an ID12 or IDQ12 or HX300 (or another sub of your taste), making a new box, getting a good amp that can drive the new bigger sub well.

Personally, (going by my taste in music) I'd find choice 1 the better VFM. Option 1 may work out just a bit costlier (or even not at all, depending on the amp), but Option 1 will give better SQ oriented bass, blend better with the Mids in front, and will be potentially louder than a single 12"

I'm sorry if I threw a spanner in the works, but I hate seeing money spent without due consideration of the options

Anup,
Getting another ID 10" was duely considered, but one thing goes against that setup is boot space ,Boot area will be covered fully by that seup and already swift boot is quite small,
so thought on going for bigger sub and then boot space is also there,
which maintains balance between iced swift and family swift!!

Vebmetal, with door panel on it looks like a normal stock door,as drivers are fitted in stock location and moreover u can't even take a guess after seeing it with door panel i.e doors are dammped!!!

Hydra,

Sooner or later you will reach there,,,
Now is my desicion right ,going for single bigger sub!!!

Gill sahab, please let us know your music tastes.
That will help us decide whether to go for our original plan of 15" IDQ or Hydra's option 2 i.e. a 12incher

Rajat as i said earlier,it all depends on the mood, from fm to cd to mp3,anything and everthing!!Most of the time it's like led zapline, coldplay, dido,Nirvana, alicia keys.(Most of times contributes to 40%) rest is punjabi, gazals, hindi music!!

So what do our members suggest looking at the music requirements?

I haven't listened to an IDQ15, but going by the IDQ10 & IDQ12 it should be good.

For a bit more SPL without loss of SQ, I'd also suggest the Hertz HX300 (just about 16K, I think) or the IDMax12 v3 (no idea of prices or availability) or the ID12 v3.0 (12K I think) which could be the right one (power-wise, enclosure-size-wise, SPL+SQ-wise & price-wise).

To keep the SPL part under control, a nice sealed box, or a ported box of the minimum size (for the ported box specs) would be good. But, either of these subs will need to be fed 350w RMS and above (for a sealed box) for good results.

Now, a ported box for either of these choices would be close to/more than 2 cu.ft. (The ID12 is ok with a minimum of 1.5 cu ft vol for the enclosure, though). So a sealed box maybe needed to keep Gill's boot-space intact. But again, sealed box = more power needed :(

Like the pennypincher that I am , I'd also suggest trying out a ported box for the current ID10. [Try out a crude one (not a CCTB heh, heh), or borrow a box for the test if possible, DONT' build one for testing]. It will not be as loud as a 12" in a ported box, but it will give good enough competition (SQ wise) to a 12" in a sealed box. Who knows, it may solve the problem? If you guys have thought of this then I that option is also out.

Before Gill throws me out for suggesting a way to NOT sell the ID10, lemme run away

the CCTB was an aperidoic box, no no actually it was a tunable box. it sang along with the bass like a violin body that resonates along with the strings. btw it seems the creator of the CCTB (Vivek) has banised himself from TBHP.
