Why don't you order it online and get it installed locally ?

Re: JVC AVX Series Thread

PhX - I'm surprised it isnt available in Mumbai. Even if it isnt readily available, the authorised dealers can source it within a week or so, do you have the details of the authorised dealer for JVC? and MRP of AVX 746 was 19,900 Rs, with 2 years manufacturer warranty when I picked mine 3 months back.

K2max - I picked up mine from ebay, but see they arent available anymore there. Any other site which you know of?

What I've been told is that they're out of stock, especially the 746. Whatever's available now is in the grey market. Apparently, JVC's stocks in India have taken a hit due to the flooding in SE Asia. I suppose the 746s now available in the market have been smuggled in, hence they're available without bill and warranty.

I've tried calling up some of the shops listed on JVC's website ("Where to buy") but was given the same information...746 available without bill and warranty, 846 available with bill and warranty.

EDIT
Sorry, got confused. Have not been able to call any authorised JVC dealer. I called up car audio shops from the Pioneer website, but asked for JVC as well. Does anyone have the contact of the authorised JVC dealer in Mumbai?

Re: JVC AVX Series Thread

OT - Why not consider pioneer too? You get a very good 7" touchscreen DVD player (4000 series IIRC). Only thing is that it doesnt have the BT function, but pretty much matches on all other features. They are a bit expensive by 1k or 2k compared to 746 though.

I would prefer having BT.

But more importantly, the advantage of JVC AVX is that the faceplate is detachable.

Even the pioneer units featuring 7" touchscreen has detachable faceplate. Of course no BT though.

OT: The new Pioneer line 2490, 4490 and 8490 (all of which have BT) are not faceplate detachable.

Re: JVC AVX Series Thread

The 4490 and 8490 should have it since they are 7" HU. Please check the following link from pioneer USA site, it mentions the detachable faceplate as security feature for 8400BH (Equivalent of 8490 in our market).

AVH-P8400BH - NEW! - 2-DIN Multimedia DVD Receiver with 7" Widescreen Touch Panel Display, Advanced App Mode, Built-In Bluetooth®, and HD Radio™ Tuner | Pioneer Electronics USA

I'm very confident of this since I checked the earlier versions out when I was shopping around for my car and they had the detachable faceplate feature too.

Bala, you're right. I just rechecked the brochure for the Indian line-up I downloaded from the Pioneer India website. The 8490 has a detachable face-plate, whereas the 4490 (7" touch-screen) and the 2490 (5.8" touch screen) do not.

Re: JVC AVX Series Thread

Considering touchscreen otpions for my new i20 (igen). Can anyone suggest which one is better - JVC AVX 746 or Pioneer AVH P4490BT. Main features required - Bluetooth with phonebook sync (I use a Blackberry 8520), reverse camera compatible, detachable (if possible), USB, AUX in, if possible a one touch standby (screen goes dark).

2-DIN AV Receiver KW-AVX746 | AV Receiver | Car Audio | JVC India

Car Head Units

Of the two mentioned, the JVC has a detachable faceplate, whereas the Pio has a motorised fix one. Also, the Pio has a 7" screen whereas the JVC has a6.1" screen. But IMHO, the screen of the JVC will suffice most hatchback users (have got this in my swift). Both have all the features mentioned

Guys
Installed JVC AW-70BT installed in my Swifty. Was a bit apprehensive going for JVC as I am a big Pioneer fan.Initial impressions are very good. Clarity is good, functions easy to use, impressive features. Bluetooth pairing very easy and you can pair upto 5 phones. Touch screen very responsive. I got 5K for my 7year old avh-p5750 and paid 23500.

For Navigation you have to use seperate module from MMI or Satguide.
