It is fully compatible with more recent models of iPods/iPhones which was the reason for the change. Better touch screen response times too. The old unit couldnt control my 160GB classic iPod even with the ipod adapter installed.

Cheers!
Congrats bro, JVC AVX 836??? Is the 826 discontinued? If soo whats really the difference between the two in terms of features and looks? Plz do put up some install pics!

Avx 830

I have an AVX 830 on its way to me from the States.

I am curious what the differences are between the 820/ 830?

Is there any way a navigation system can be connected so that it displays directions on the AVX screen?

Hi Prince85, thanks v much! I think the 826 is still around but I wasnt able to click any pics during the 15 minute long install..it was almost plug 'n play.

I was shown the 835/836 catalogue and the diff between the 2 is trim colour. Frankly I auditioned the Pioneer DVD4250 as well and really, really liked it (same kit that GTO has in his Civic) but went in for the JVC coz it came with a BT adapter (extra with the Pioneer) and a detachable screen. A JVC keeps my better half from spotting the upgrade. Life does get a little complicated when your spouse thinks these things are waste of money.

Hi Guys,
I have a JVC AVX 810 fitted in my Skoda Octavia (got an exchange for the original Alpines a year ago). I still have the original front set of speakers. Now i feel the need for better bass and intend to go in for an amp and subwoofer. To keep it simple, i had planned to buy an active basstube (tube with built in amp), but am told that the active ones are not avl.

Any hints ? I am not too particular about SQ. I need a rugged simple set with not too many complications. Also want to fit tweeters in the rear door slots. Any ideas ?

Thanks buddy. Well, the differences between the 810 and 836 are subtle including highlighted buttons on the fascia. Here are the diffs that come to mind:

a) BT dongle looks like a USB drive and fits behind the face plate i.e. totally concealed. In the 810 this was a separate accessory that was plugged in from behind the unit via a cable.

b) The 836 has no SD slot.

c) The 836 can control the newer generation of ipods and iphones. The 810 struggled even with teh dedicated ipod adapter

d) Is able to read DVDs filled with Mp3s.

e) MUCH better touch screen response and mildly better quality sound (could be my imagination)'

f) The 836 has RCA jacks on the body of the unit, the 810 has RCAs via a lead adapter.

Strangely its not listed on the JVC India site. You can read more about it here JVC Products Australia : Welcome

Costs Rs 35K with B&W.

Regards,

PS - am out of town on office work hence will post the pics mid June when I am back.

The main difference is 836 is navigation (GPS) ready whereas 826 was not.

By the way, 836 is available in Delhi for 24k without B&W.

Specifications at:

JVC Middle East/Africa/CIS Consumer Home Electronics Dubai, UAE. HDD Camcorder, Audio, Car Audio, LCD

Congrats Man! Have you connected a GPS adapter also? If so, con you share the details?

I was planning for a similar thing for my Polo. Just wanted to know if there was an alternative to MapmyIndia & SatGuide - For the hardware. Maps can be purchased separately.

Hi, Could you please PM me where you picked up the avx 836 from in delhi? i'm getting a 1 month old used 826 for 26k which i think is too much considering your saying that that the 836 without B&W is for 24k.

Re: JVC AVX Series Thread

I am getting a sparsely used 810 for 10k, that too with B&W, and I will be the first owner.

Though this sounds tempting but still I would like to take second, third and so on opinion, is it worth??

Re: JVC AVX Series Thread

I need suggestion on 2 Din DVD player for my VW Vento. I am planning to get JVC KW-AVX846. Anyone got any experience on this? I think this is quite new from JVC. Also does it have expandabe GPS option? From the spec it is saying that navigation can be used thru MotionX-GPS Drive application from i-Phone.
