guys in stead of switching off the display i suggest you guys use the display dimmer option , go to Display settings -> Dimmer and select the time based option -> now you can set the unit to tone down intensity of the display during night time and back to the original intensity during daytime , this is a very useful feature in my AVX33 i hope its there on your units too...

Does the JVC AVX series have an interface for steering mounted audio controls? My car (Skoda Octavia L&K) has the steering controls and I am thinking of changing the stock audio system with a AVX series double din player. However the steering controls are VERY convenient and I would not like to loose that functionality.

I have to make a quick decision so will be glad if anyone can throw some light on this issue quickly.

Thanks buddy. Doesn't any good 2 DIN player has that kind of an adapter inbuilt into it? I am trying to buy a comprehensive system with in-built bluetooth and stuff and really don't want to go in with any adapter.

Thanks sathee46. I am going in for a full frills system with built-in bluetooth and stuff so am hoping to get a steering control interface in-built with the system. Anybody knows/used that kind of a system? Outside JVC is fine with me as well.

Guess I will have to pour cold water on my plans to replace the stock system on my Octy :( Even though I had zeroed in on a nice system (JVC KW-AVX820) it looks as if getting that system (or for that matter ANY aftermarket system) to work with my steering mounted controls is going to be a big hassle.

There are interface devices available in US which can sync that system with the steering controls. However I will have to buy 3 things (a SWI-CAN a SWI-JACK and another interface from PAC electronics) to get that functionality going. Considering that the total cost of these 3 is around 10k it doesn't look as if it will be money well spent. Plus there will be added clutter.

I will live with the stock system on my Octavia. Not that it is bad. Just wanted to go in for something better.

IIRC there is a much simple solution too, You can add a small IR sensor on the B-pillar of the car to control any HU. I think Bluraven has done something like this.

Anybody here use the AVX 826? I'd appreciate feedback.

I am a little dissapointed that I couldn't find a GPS receiver for this on the net. Any ideas?

JVC KD-AVX77 any good?

Hello,
The 800 and 814 are not listed in the JVC website.
also how is the AVX77? i got quoted 27K for it from the local dealer.
Looks like a very expensive deal considering the prices mentioned here on the thread.

Also, i was told by the dealer it is not available and will take a month atleast. is this really true? can someone tell me how to source it and offcourse guide me to someone who can wire it without messing up the electricals?

I have a stock cedia and want to upgrade the system.
He suggested I continue with the current speakers and just change the HU and use a soundstream 350 (from my old car) to drive the speakers and if i want go for an active subwoofer which comes with a build in amp under the seat.

is this a good option?

Cheers

I found the culprit. The fan is not running which makes the system very heat.
Now please can some one tell me where to go for this fix ? Where is the service center for JVC in Bangalore ? I heard that its some where in Koramangala.

The AVX 836

Guys,

Just upgraded my HU to the AVX 836. Good sound, marginally better than the 810 that I had previously. Has 5V preouts on F&R and the sub woofer and comes with a BT adapter.

It is fully compatible with more recent models of iPods/iPhones which was the reason for the change. Better touch screen response times too. The old unit couldnt control my 160GB classic iPod even with the ipod adapter installed.

Cheers!
