Well, i hate gluing tweeters using 3M tape. I do not find it a long term solution. Sure the tape is nice, but direct sunlight will destroy anything...

suprisingly i have seen tape used most times. it looks ugh. tapes and TS20 seem to be a common solution.

It will give you a enjoyable clean sound. For best results I will recommend a 4channel amp with the speakers.

For full range sound you can add a subwoofer anyday you want to. Not necessarily 12" you can opt for 10" or 8" as per your taste.

Hi JB

Can getz take 6.5" without modification??????????
I never knew it!!!!!

Yes RSJ... 6.5" is the standard size for Getz. You only need MDF spacer rings... the pics posted by me in the beginning of this thread show a 6.5" Alpine Xtype SPX-177 midbass.

I never knew it!!!! Everytime i go through these pages,i find some new thing.[I remember our surgery assi.professor said same lines when he was encouraging us to read one book many times rather than reading many books once each.]

Then navin and gunbir, dont u guys think i should go for 6.5" instaed 5.25" as price is almost same.? I hope SQ [and SPL too] will be better.

And gunbir plz reply to my post on my thread.

Another Getz Install... more install ideas for you

Hey folks

Heres another Getz install... this will give you some more ideas...

The car already had some equipment the owner had installed 8-9 months ago. Here you can see his door panels with Sony coaxes which had been installed OVER the door panels as the installer just cut through the panel and installed on the plastic door panel itself... UGGHHH

So the installer has ruined the door panel.

Here we removed the stock speaker grill which was damaged.

Cables from his earlier install... as usual his earlier install had lots of noise, whines etc due to bad cabling.

The earlier installation of HU. Note the install... done incorrectly (refer page 1 of this thread for how to install the HU properly)

HU being reinstalled, this time done properly with a DIN sleeve secured in place.

Spacer Rings being fabricated out of MDF.

Boot has been stripped. Note new cabling from Connection Audison.

New Floor fabricated out of MDF. Being checked for measurements. This is where it gets interesting.

Angled side panels being positioned to test angles are correct and as per measurements.

Yes. As promised here you can see the Sony SD series amps. Heres the 4 ch Class A/B amp.

And here's the Class D mono.

Here you can see Spare Wheel-well cavity damped with foam. Budget damping...

Front comps installed.

Rear Coaxes installed.

Speaker grill installed where stock grill used to be.

Here you can see the floor, and side panels carpeted and installed.

Amps being installed....

Another Getz Install... continued...

Amps installed. Note crimped connectors...

Sub is installed...

Amps gave a subtle blue light beneath those fins. Look cool...

HU after re-installation. Now installed from the rear, beneath the center console. Sits levelled with the console as opposed to jutting out earlier. More importantly, its now very difficult to steal in a hurry.

Exterior pics of the car... TBHP's "Driven" at the wheel...

Yes! the car belongs to TBHP's very own Vish_Janu.

Vishal is quite passionate about his car. And every bit of his car, from sunroof to decals is chosed very carefully by him. His car looks nice. Admittedly, due to his limited (pre TBHP) knowledge of ICE, his earlier installer did a bad job and used some lousy equipment.

Some intereting stuff....

The Sony SD amps... Vish got the amps for with B&W. They are decent for the price. They look much much better than the 502/504 models. The Class D mono is pitched by Sony as a 1100w amp... is only around 250W @ 4ohms.

As usual, the Hertz 15" ES380 kicks!! Sounds awesome!! Great SQL!!

Nice install. Very neat.

When I saw VJ's earlier ICE pix sometime back, I was like ...does it sound good?
If i remember right, he had a sub and two pio 6x9 on a single big box. Would such a setup provide a good SPL/SQ?

Hey Gunbir regarding the SD series amps - JBL and Blaupunkt have similarly priced amps and pioneer is cheaper. How do they compare with SD series ones?

Gunbir, a couple of questions on that install.

1. why is the front component tweeter sitting on the dash? could it be installed inside the rear mirror pod? I dont like tweeters sitting on a dash as they are liable to get hit by an over zealous cleaning man.

2. The 15" woofer is sitting in the spare tyre location. I hope the owner does not intedn to use the rear space for shopping. the grill of the sub would eventually get dented and dinked if not damaged.

3. in the 1st install why are there 2 HUs were both active?

A: There is no RVM pod in the Getz. It has a manual lever for RVM adjustment. Hence, angled surface mount.

2. The 15" woofer is sitting in the spare tyre location.
A: The owner made it clear he had NO intention of using the boot, didnt need the spare. He wanted the sub to be visible. Optional hex hole grill is available though if he ever wants it.

3. in the 1st install why are there 2 HUs were both active?
A: Cuz the owner didnt like the empty pocket beneath the HU, and he wanted to have a cassette player in the car. Wasnt active though.
Kinda like my Laser Disc player sitting at home...
