As ugly as it may be; when I compare it to an auto (which is what I think they are targeting), it is very SAFE (and therefore better)

Peg the nano as an autorickshaw replacement and you'll have hartals by unions all over the country.

And anyway i dont think TATA will ruin the Nanos image further by putting a yellow board on it

And please dont call the RE60 the ugliest contraption,we have the mahindra GIO for that

re: The Bajaj Qute (RE60)

RE has unwittingly promoted the Nano to a higher segment.

Check out the comments below, real funny.
Bajaj Auto launches low cost car RE 60, promises 40 km per litre

"And if the Bajaj car does not start, just tilt it and kick it. It might start..Hamara Bajaj"

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

Two very important developments in this case
1. Bajaj has tied up with Reno for marketing, with a small network currently Reno may not add much to its success. I think Bajaj may have had been better off selling this under their own name
2. Its a me too product in the end which actually may help Tata Nano sales as customers will compare this to Nano and end up buying Nano

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

Most of the Business TV Channels are showing pics & videos of the launch today. Bloomberg UTV and ET Now at 9pm today (3rd Jan) have segments on it. Will probably be shown on other Business Channels too.

re: The Bajaj Qute (RE60)

That's one ugly looking contraption Bajaj has Made.

The headlight design seems inspired from Kia Soul. If only they were inspired more from that car.

You kidding me right
Bajaj RE will sound like a bajaj Auto.
After so much of R&D they came up with this

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

Imagine these running as Auto's on the streets. Wow.

Not in agreement with the criticism for the "Four Wheeler"

This is Not a Nano competitor. With the integrated fare meter, it is clearly targeted at being a commercial passenger vehicle.

Why the Nano is not being used as a Taxi? Well, was it supposed to be? or with the Mileage, would it make commerical sense?

Whether or not it well get the sales registered ticking shall be left to be seen.

However would this be a great leap forward in terms of comfort & safety from the existing Auto's? Yes, provided it makes commercial sense considering the engine options.

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

Rajiv Bajaj at the RE60 launch and shown on TV ...

1. Bajaj Auto will never venture into the car space.
2. It is a 200 cc, 35 km / lt, top speed 70 kmph.
3. Price to be announced at launch.
4. The car was displayed with an electronic fare meter.
Anchor said this is a replacement for the auto rickshaw.
5. 350 Cr invested in their Aurangabad plant for RE 60.

re: The Bajaj Qute (RE60)

Hideous design and specification. Even a team of engineering students could have done better. Don't know what for did Bajaj spend so much on R&D when they have not innovated anything.

This can't even be considered as a replacement for age old Auto's. Tata's Magic Iris seems to be the only advanced alternate to Bajaj Auto's.

re: The Bajaj Qute (RE60)

Summing it up.the RE60 is a very good autorickshaw replacement.would prefer it over the three wheelers.

But as a car?no way/

The only good that will come out of this is that the nano wont be considered base level anymore.

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

OMG no wonder Bajaj is dragging it's feet. It's one crappy looking bug that could get sucked into the air dam of a bus or an SUV. I think plastic toys you buy for Rs.10 will have better workmanship than this. Bajaj would do better to add four doors for it's RE Auto rickshaw than this. This nothing but a glorified lawn mower passing of as a car, even better, looks like a 'Fork Lift' sans the fork's.lol.

re: The Bajaj Qute (RE60)

Initially when I saw the thread and pics, I assumed that its something like a upmarket auto with Bajaj trying to compete with Iris.

Then by seeing the price tag and words from Bajaj-MD, he wants to sell this as a car. The biggest comedy of the decade.

This is really too much for me to digest and he wants Nissan and Renault to use this spectacular cato(Car or auto I dont know).

One of the biggest reasons for Nano's lower sales numbers is how the car was positioned - It was told Cheapest car and not the best value for money car.
And typical indian mentality donot want anything cheap but at a en extraordinary value for money. Nano to some extent does not look cheap and for sure looks/drives like a car.

And this one wants to compete with it and this will end up pushing Nano's sales.

All I could tell is Bajaj has taken a big task of entering car segment in a much much lighter and casual way!!

It will be very surprising if it works!!
Already it stands half way in windscreen and I am not sure it will cover the complete swipe area of the windscreen!!

Re: Pics: Bajaj's Small Car

Why do I feel like the car has got brain tumor? It feels like that from rear. The front design looks Piaggio autos and there was no time to design the front bumper!

Looks too narrow!

Gearlever on the dashboard!
