Re: Indian Taxi Pictures

Soon Santro Xing will take over as the official taxi in mumbai as you cannot put 3-cylinder cars into taxi service anymore (atleast black n yellow ones) so no more alto's or 800s.
Secondly (correct me if I am wrong), new wagon R is also a 3-cylinder. So that's out too!

That's true fx45, the new WagonR does come with the 3-cylinder K10 series engine.

Re: Indian Taxi Pictures

Surely Zing is a competent vehicle but really wonder about the logic of not allowing other 3 clyinders. The altos, wagon r etc are great city hatches with decent power and economy. Sometimes these rules beat logic!

All these cabs are looking to be in working condition but surprisingly all had their glasses broken and damaged. Tyres are also deflatd and they are dirty not washed for ages.
But some are clean tidy and looks to be used daily.
Looks like there is some legal matter going on with them.
These are a part of the Mumbai GoldCab Fleet promoted by Fulora: the first modern taxi fleet in Mumbai. I think the company bombed and MERU as we all know controls a major part of the fleet taxi service along with other operators like MegaCabs, EasyCabs, Forshe, Priyadarshini etc.

Re: Indian Taxi Pictures

Nothing so special about the Savari from Mahindra, but for the fact that it carries upto 25 to 30 passengers - something that can put some of the buses to shame!

If our humble Bajaj RE can take 10 people why not Savari?
Those autos have specially! made two seats, one on each side of driver. Inside the auto, you should be happy if only one guy sits in your lap, as the others will be busy hanging from both sides of auto. So put together you will have atleast 10 passenger travelling.
This happens in UP and I have traveled one among the ten between Mathura and Vrindavan.

Re: Indian Taxi Pictures

By the way, scrapping of old Ambassador taxis have again commenced lately. There was a lull phase for some months when the registration of BS III Ambassador 1500 DSL taxis were stopped, owing to the fact that Kolkata is a metro and only BS IV complaint engines could be registered. The BS IV engines from HM have not yet come but the BS III engines are again seen getting registered as brand new taxis.Hence, the scrapping has begun for 15 year or older taxis. The owner pays Rs 4.72 L and gets a discount of Rs 90 K for his old taxi. The on -road price of the Ambassador 1500 DSL, BS III hence could be Rs 5.62 L.

Some taxis spotted in and around Mahabaleshwar :

While the Mahindra CJ 4A chassis based, black and yellow taxis are too common here, its not unusual to spot other cars. The Maruti Swift taxi was also spotted-a very rare make to be painted black and yellow!

Re: Indian Taxi Pictures

found this on the net.

With the number of school bags hung, it seems that this rickshaw is trying to act like a cab.

Gosh! That is absolutely ridiculously dangerous! I sure hope this was done just to take a photo in that pose. If this happens daily, then am glad to be far away from all this!

Shocked to see such a thing! Do the parents even know how their son Is traveling in this manner? If something like this was to happen in Chennai maybe the public might thrash the auto fellow. Also check the pathetic condition of the right rear tyre of the auto! Such fellows should be thrashed or stoned for transporting children in this manner.

Re: Indian Taxi Pictures

In chennai NTL cabs are becoming famous with all the facilities. Some of the cars they have are Liva, figo , xylo , innova etc. Looks good with a light on the top which says its hired or not hired. Th color combo also seems to look good.

Will try to post the pictures when i click it the next time.
