Thanks. That’s a useful input regarding the earthing issues, and possible mobile solutions, like the one these guys have shown.

Couple of questions (directed at all forum members, not just you):

What is the need for such a long 30m earthing cable? Can we do with a shorter cable?

Is the circuit anything more complicated than connecting the earth pin of the plug to a cable which whose other end is secured into the ground?

The idea is to have a long enough cable. Example if it is a cemented driveway - and no mud nearby. You have adequate length for ‘most’ occasions. Better to have more than be stuck because you had a short wire. Also i you keep earth wire separate (and it can be a thin wire also) you can easily put it in a different place.

Re: Tata Tiago EV | A Close Look & Preview

For a use case of 30 km daily in the city, which might go up to 55km in the city, will be chauffeur driven and carrying 3 people usually, what makes sense more?

Nexon EV
Nexon EV max
Tiago EV
Wait for an updated Tigor EV
Wait till same time next year

There actually is no pressing need to replace but the Zen Estilo goes for RC renewal in January and with the 15 years NGT ruling things are tricky.

In each case, top variants only as the car will be kept till the 8 year battery warranty mark.

Assuming that the vehicle will be purchased on loan and hence a slight increase in EMIs will be OK.

.
Ev's will only get expensive due to inflation and currency exchange rates.
For your use case, a Tiago should be enough unless you fancy a bit more interior space and higher ground clearance.

If adult rear seating is important do note that in the Nexon the floor is raised (Max is even higher) and rear seating is knee up. Tiago and Tigor have their battery in the boot and under the seat base and not under the floor, so seating is like their combustion brethren.

If budget is not restricted and going to be self driven with rear seat used only for short duration or by kids then EV Max. If knee up is ok.

Chauffeur plus 2 -
- if children (youngsters) - any of the above
- if adult - Upto 5.11 - no back issues and stuff - Nexon EV prime
- if adult - Upto 5.9 - elderly, back issues etc - Tiago EV
- if adult - above 5.9 - elderly, back issues etc - Tigor EV (rear armrest is usable)

I wouldn’t suggest the EV max as your use case doesn’t need the additional range plus adequate fast chargers are becoming available.
The current Tigor EV is a good choice to be honest!

Re: Tata Tiago EV | A Close Look & Preview

Hill-hold feature should have been provided IMO. I do not see it mentioned in the brochure. Without it, rollback in steep inclines will be an issue in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

I had taken in writing from the Dealership that there will be no cancellation charges.

I understand Nexon EV, and Tigor EV uses LFP batteries.
Any data on the type of battery used in Tiago EV? The website just says Lithium Ion, nothing more

Re: Tata Tiago EV | A Close Look & Preview

What is the difference between Hill hold and hill assist/descent assist? Does Tiago EV has Hill assist feature?

If it doesn't have this feature, then how to drive on uphill? By quickly switching our foot from Brake pedal to Gas pedal? This will cause a little bit of rolling backwards.

According to one of the press release, "Adding to its safety quotient, it also offers hill start and descent assist for ease of driving on inclines, DRLs and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (iTPMS)."

I don't think its listed as a feature in their brochure. I also did a search for the text you posted regarding the hill assist and found that most of the websites mentioning that are dated before 10th Oct i.e. before the vehilce was unveiled.

Re: Tata Tiago EV | A Close Look & Preview

Maybe this has been answered before:

1) Was the Tiago/Tigor always designed to house a internal combustion engine and batteries + motor?

2) What are the disadvantages of this approach - using an existing ICE platform to build an EV?

3) Why aren't more manufacturers able to do this?
