Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Secure 360 seems to work in live mode but doesn't record anything. Someone keyed my car while parked outside for a deep scratch about 2 feet wide - went through the paint. Secure 360 has no recordings.

It’s stupid but I confirmed the scenarios where Secure 360 will record. It’s mainly when the AEB or other ADAS accident saving functions get activated, during hard braking, if someone tries to open the door/fiddle with the door handle.

Its really silly that we cannot get to save say a week’s recording after using our own pendrive. If this is not changed in a software update, I think this car really needs a dashcam with recording on while car is locked and parked.

I just ordered a digital mirror dashcam for 2 reasons:

1. The IRVM display area is hilariously bad and barely usable. The digital mirror will give a live feed of the rear without any obstruction from the middle row.

2. 360 videos recorded by the car is barely usable even in daylight conditions. Have not been able to identify any number plates from any of the angles when required. Plus the non-continuous recording is a straight deal breaker.

If I see this from Tesla's implementation stand point, they have two functions
1. Saving footage in case of emergency. If there is a emergency event, the event is recorded in the user provided pen drive. In case you want to save some other clip while driving, the save button has to explicitly pressed to save the recording.
2. In Sentry mode, the car detects any unwarranted movement and notifies the owner. This event also gets saved to the pen drive connected.

And in both cases, the events get overwritten if the pen drive runs out of space.

So is Secure360 performing the above functions? Also, Can you explain what you mean by "we cannot get to save say a week’s recording after using our own pendrive."

I hope future software update can help to manage these issues.
As Carplay is taking another few weeks to come, I got a new Android phone (new accessory for car) and excellent sound quality on Android auto compared to Bluetooth from the Spotify app on on iPhone

I have upgraded the tyres. Here are some pics. I have gone with 255/55 r19 and Pirellis. The stock MRFs I got was pathetic and using them was a risk . I had to swap them as an emergency measure with just 150kms on the ODO. I have contacted Mahindra about the tyre condition and to claim warranty because I have not even driven 50kms after taking delivery of the car at 112kms on the Odo . I am waiting for them to revert.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Mahindra's dispatch split between its 'Origin Electric SUVs' :

March dispatches:

BE 6: 934
XEV 9e: 2080

- XEV 9e accounting for 59% of bookings and the BE 6 making up the remaining 41%
- A significant number of customers have opted for the Pack Three variant, which is the highest trim currently available
- In an effort to ease the transition for first-time EV users, Mahindra has introduced a new 'Default' drive mode. This feature is designed to mimic the driving characteristics of traditional internal combustion vehicles, aiming to make electric driving more familiar and accessible.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Hi all,

I pre booked my 9e in deep forest color with CAI Mahindra coimbatore on the 25th of January. I got the official confirmation on the 14th of February. I started following up with the dealer from the 2nd week of march, was initially disappointed when I was informed that my car isn't among the scores lying in their stockyard and Mahindra was non committal regarding when the next lot will be despatched.
All this changed on the 20th of march when during a routine follow up call my SA said that my allotted car has left the factory and I should get things ready from my side. Over the next couple of days I got my finance sorted and started waiting to see my "Hulk" in person for the first time. On the 24th of March I was informed that "Hulk" has been unloaded and they would go ahead with the formalities after oK from my side. I got to the stockyard with my father & my elder son armed with the updated PDI checklist which was posted my one of our bhpians. I verified that it was a march manufactured vehicle (march18th to be precise). There were no major red flags & the odo showed 83 kms. I okayed the car and completed the formalities the very next day. I requested them for delivery on the 29th of March but was informed that is not possible and since I was travelling we decided to take delivery on the 4th of April.
A huge shout out to Mr Eshwaran, Mr Sudish (person incharge of EV @ CAI) and Mr Dinesh (my SA at CAI) for good communication, not giving unrealistic delivery timelines and finally ensuring that delivery happened on the committed day.
Finally the 4th of April arrived and since it was an auspicious day, I was informed that CAI was delivering more than 20 cars that evening. Add to this it started raining heavily as soon as I reached there with my family. It was really frustrating to see all the effort put in by CAI to present "Hulk" in its shining best spoilt by the downpour
All in all the delivery was as smooth process but due rush & rain the SA did not have time to explain anything to me. I was switching over from a manual transmission, the first few kms into bumper to bumper traffic in pouring with no idea regarding any controls and kids trying to fiddle around with audio leading to loud music at inappropriate moment with sensors warning me of impending collision every second was unnerving!
I settled down by the time we reached the temple for puja and post that drove back home in a relaxed manner. I have driven about 200 kms till now with a mix of city and highway and these are my take aways.

pros
1. I have been driving only in default mode till date and even in that this feels very capable, am able to close gaps with ease with no real need for switching modes.
2. The regen modes work well, one pedal mode is very useful in bumper to bumper traffic. I found that even with region at 0 in the highways when I press the brake the regen meter goes up (this is probably brake by wire tech in action)
3. Suspension feels very good and that is saying a lot coming from Duster and Hexa.
4. The cabin is very well insulated and you do not hear anything at all from outside.
5. Family is extremely happy with the comfort in the rear seat.
6. Audio is very good - the default setting was in stadium mode (this was in my case) and switching out of this to premium audio made a big difference to sound quality.
7.I found Apple Music in the app list & could log into my apple account, am able to play Apple Music even though air play is not there.

Cons
1. No car play at present
2. The white seats are going to be a pain to maintain
3. In bright light, the markings on the gear knob (DRPN) are impossible to read. Thankfully the same gets displayed on the information display.
4. Very poor rearward visibility
5. secure 360 does not seem to be recording anything currently
6. Volume of audio is very loud at start up & mute button takes a while to respond as pointed out by another fellow owner

Niggles faced
1. Left rear door piano black insert seems to gets stuck under the front insert at times when the door is opened resulting in a loud noise - need to get this sorted.
2. I felt a couple of times the gear not was not shifting from park to drive and stopping at neutral - had to restart the car for that to settle down, will keep an eye out to see if that repeats itself
3. couple of times the left blind spot monitoring camera did not switch on while switching on the indicator, again will see if it is a recurring problem
4. Am not sure whether the "eyedentity" is working because I haven't got a single warning in close to 200 kms of driving.

Home charger installation
The team from Mahindra visited my home on the 28th of March & gave an ok for basic requirements as I had 13 Kwa sanctioned load with three phase and a proper earth. They however said that all installations had come to a pause as there was some software issue and will keep us updated. I received the car with 98 % charge and it had dropped to 55% over the weekend after driving about 190 kms. They finally installed 11 Kwa charger and commissioned it yesterday. I have tried charging and it is a breeze.

Me4U app
The dealer did not inform me about the app but I had it downloaded for a while. The day I took delivery I could log in & verify. The app looks quite intuitive with all details available on the fly.

Range
I have hardly done 200 kms till now and hence am not in a position to comment on this. I have a long trip coming up this weekend and shall update post that.

Accessories installed
1. I had asked for only mud flaps from the dealer and that too was quoted to be out of stock on the day of delivery !
2. I had ordered 9D matts from Mr Matte @ amazon for around Rs 6500. The fit & finish is really good, am really happy with that.
3. I had ordered screen guard from armour guards - yet to install the same.
4. I had ordered dash cam from redtiger - F77. I installed it by routing it from the rear 12 V cigarette socket as the cars lacks a front one!
5. I have been reading up regarding how to maintain white seats online and I came across Geyon leather protect. A lot of Tesla owners have sweared by it, saying the protection lasts for upto one year. I managed to get it on amazon and it took about two hours and half a bottle of this to complete one coating of all seats & leatherette interior. I shall keep everyone updated regarding how much protection this offers.

This brings me to the end of this really long post. Am super excited about getting to finally own the "Hulk". Moving from Hexa after owning it for more than 8 years & over 1 lakh kms this feels like a big upgrade in terms of how much tech has gotten into our cars. I will keep updating my journey with the Hulk.

Have you done any changes in EQ. In my car FM radio volume is way higher than Android Auto. I am also using Spotify on Android Auto.

Hi, which one did you order? Please share more information once you start using it. Was planning for one myself.

TIA

Ordered the Wolfbox G900 Pro. Reviews seem pretty good and one of our fellow 9E owners has done a DIY install already and he’s very happy with it, so took the plunge.

Bluedart messed up the delivery, so delayed. Once installed and have used it for a few days, will share the photos and feedback.

Re: Mahindra XEV 9e Review

Hello everyone.
Finally got my 9e delivered yesterday. I was supposed to be one of the first receivers but got it late, for the reasons i mentioned in earlier posts.

I just want to take a final call on PPF. Help from fellow bhpians would be highly appreciated. I have zeroed in on 2 ppf standards.
1. Detailing devils- Dragon immortal ppf, self healing.
2 Detailing experts - Avado Rover, instant heal, ultra gloss
Dragon ppf is costing a little less than the Avaro Rover.
Please someone advise on this.
