the deal is really good, but for me shelling 38k for D550 is not making much sense as compared to D3100 courtesy : a you tube video of D3100 vs D550 by Digital Rev and one more review of D3100 which shows that it is more easy to handle

Thanks for the update. I called and get the price of 26.7K for Nikon 3100 pack.

I also heard from other forums that some got it for 26K in Chennai. Is it the least quote on Nikon 3100? I am trying with few more dealers listed in Nikon india webpage. I prefer only the shops listed here to check and buy.

Hey, no!!! I didn't ,mean that you buy 550D only. Sorry if it sounded like that. You buy what's best for you.
My focus was on BUYING ONLINE as you will get better deal online than through a authorised dealer , be it D3100/D5100 or 550D.
Even for 29K for D3100 you are getting good accessories as freebies on letsbuy.com

no my friend, you never sounded that way, its was my opinion that i am thinking for myself because i am trying to justify myself to go for D3100 instead of D550

vijay, check out the Ebay deals of this week, you can get D3100 for the price you have indicated from a Chennai dealer with Nikon warranty.
However the same model deal was much better couple of weeks back.

Shipped from NY to Melbourne in a week. No duties paid in Aus. Usually they charge 10% duty for imports above 1k AUD but its a random scan. B&H usually provides 3 shipping options - FedEx, UPS or US Post International Express. I went with US Post given the chances of customs stoppage were much lower compared to UPS and FedEx.

Adorama doesn't offer US Post so its a no-no for items above 1k.

Shipping charges were around 80 USD and the tracking was accurate with up to date online status updates.

This was my first transaction with B&H and I am highly impressed. They also offer 30 day return with full refund.

HDMI cable is NOT included, I bought on ebay for Rs.315.

I had 3 transactions in the past, always received through Fedex without a reason to worry, but the shipping & duty makes me never buy again !! Now I look for people who are coming on vacation, so that I save the shipping and duty But some items are available in India for a marginal difference, its always better to cross check the local online dealers.
