Recent reviews all over the net, places Reliance Broadband at the top in terms of speed. Tata is a strict no-no as they are in a habit to cheat you in terms of speed and connectivity.

600 GB per month and that too for just 1,350/- ... not that I'll ever need that much , but which plan from BSNL are you using?

1350 is their 512 KBps plan. May be he is getting 2 MBps during the night. That's the only way you can amass this big an amount in one month.

I am not getting 2Mbps only at nights! I have 24/7 2Mbps! When I applied for broadband on this phone, I opted for the 250/- pm connection which gave upto 2Mbps speeds. Then after a month I upgraded to 512kbps UL plan but they have a flaw! They upgraded my line to UL usage but left the speed intact! Its been a year now and I am loving it!

Hi Mrinal,

Have used both Reliance & Photon simultaneously on two adjacent laptops and found the Photon to be relatively more consistent than the other.

The photon has returned speeds of upto 2.72Mbps whilst testing on SpeedTest.net, and at the same time the Reliance unit has only returned less than 2 Mbps.

Having said this, let me also warn you that the geographical area of operation also matters to pit one against the other.

Photon also gives you a better return for your money on an annual basis as they have a scheme that allows you free downloads for the 1st 90days - which is the scheme am currently using.

Trust this helps.

1. Tata Photon+
2. Reliance broadband+

Both of them claim upto 3.1 Mbps speeds. The installation and device charges are 3500/- and the usage plans also cost almost the same.

Your advice is awaited!

2.7mbps is impressive. so the download speed is above 200kbps?

Hi all,

I will be based out of Chennai from Jun 28th. I am looking for a datacard plan. My usage is very heavy so I will have to go for an unlimited plan (I once tired using a limited 1mbps plan, but the bill was 26000+ for just 20 days).

There will be frequent travel out of chennai which rules out BSNL. now my choice is limited to Airtel, Reliance or Tata. This, I will be picking at my office in bangalore.

Out of these 3 Airtel is claiming the max speeds 256kbps while reliance and tata have max speeds less than 154kbps. Any idea how the coverage is across the city for various plans. I will most probably be staying at Besant nagar, Adyar or RA puram (yet to find acco though, I will have to post about it in another thread)

In between I used photon+ at mylapore for a couple of days. THe speeds was in the range of 1 to 2.2 mbps.

Thanks

With your heavy data usage, will you be able to do all that with this speed. Can be frustrating sometime. Did you got some unlimited package?

ya Rajiv I took an unlimted plan. For me any plan with limit is a strict no. I might take a homebased plan as well if necessary. I have to now see if the speed is good in the areas that I am looking at in chennai.

Any Chennai users of Airtel USB modem? What are the speeds that u are getting?

Sumit - be careful . They may discover the mistake sometime and slap you with a cumulative bill. It has happened before. Litigation will be your only option then. (other than paying of course!)

I just read somewhere that Reliance Broadband+ has launched prepaid services. Anyone has any clues about it?
