re: Sygic India GPS Navigation

The apk is the same version that I received from google play two weeks back. So it doesn't seem like a map issue. Looks like they discontinued the app on Google for now.

There used to be a separate application called Sygic India in google play earlier. That is perhaps what HillMan was referring to. Now it is no longer available. The reason I believe is that MapmyIndia has launched their own offline Navigation App for Android called NaviMap. They have offline maps for free but voice guidance is paid. I am currently running their 3-day trial. The UI is no way close to Sygic. But the maps are updated than what sygic provides.

Thats right. Sygic India is what I am referring to which has free offline voice navigation for India. Now the link to it does not appear on play store.

re: Sygic India GPS Navigation

I installed this app on the nexus 7. The offline seems to be working but every now and then it stops working and shows a message to buy the premium. And maps won't resume immediately. I wish the premium was still available as a free option.

I downloaded yesterday India map of size 722 Mb.
But when I tried to spot my Home location, this version does not even show my Society's name. The previous version was showing it.

Also there is not petrol pump to the west of my home. But it is showing on the map.

Yes, it's official! Sygic Navigation is no more a FREE service in India.
Now an unlimited license costs 29.99 euros, i.e around Rs.2400/- which is slightly on the higher side. Earlier for a lifetime license, Sygic MMI was charging Rs.1399/-

I have a previous license of Sygic, bought for Rs.300/-. I hope that is still valid

Sygic has migrated to TomTom maps from version 14 onwards. The Map Data is originally licensed by Tele Atlas, which is the parent company of TomTom.

The new installation amounts to 852 MB including the app files whereas the previous version was 1.1 GB.

The Map Data is updated on 04/2014 which is actually very good

One thing is for sure, the Navigation War in India is getting hotter with the new avatar of Sygic.

re: Sygic India GPS Navigation

I had installed Sygic 13.1.5 on my Xperia x10 which had Android 2.3.3.

Now I installed Sygic 13.1.5 on MMX Canvas Magnus A117 which has Android 4.2.1.

Now I am facing a problem with Renaming of Favourite Destination (POI).

If I want to save a location as Favourite in MMX, I have to save with the name suggested by the Sygic. I cannot change the name of that location- Neither while saving the location or afterwards renaming.

What to do?
Should I uninstall and reinstall the app? Also should I delete the folder on SD card?

It's an issue with the app. Re-installing it won't fix the problem. Even I too observed this issue few times.

re: Sygic India GPS Navigation

Update:

Sygic India GPS Navigation-sygic1.jpg

Sygic>Settings>What's New> says the "OFFLINE MAPS NOW FREE FOR EVERYBODY"

I think we can work on Sygic without a license (for route planning etc.). But to use the Turn-by-Turn Navigation, we need a valid license.

Good Bye MapmyIndia, Welcome TOMTOM

But it was working fine on Xperia x10 that had Android 2.3.3.
Then why is not supporting MMX A117 thats running 4.2.1.:banghead:

OTOH I have submitted a request to Sygic about this issue through inbuilt Contact Support.
I received an email from them confirming the receipt of my request.

Lets see what Sygic comes out on this.

re: Sygic India GPS Navigation

Need help!

I am having a tough time downloading sygic maps and installing on memory card of Sony Xperia M. I think there is no option for manually changing settings to have it installed on memory card in Xperia (or may be in all android phones I'm not sure). Xperia doesn't allow to put data more than 750 mb on phone memory.

Does anyone faced this issue?

Same with my HTC. I switched to NaviMaps from MMI for offline safety, that's more updated and has better search results. But no voice navigation in free mode.
Waze is my favorite though.
