Halo Reach Beta is here.
How many of you play Halo-3 online! Do we have a thread where we share our gamertags?
I will start playing it as soon as its downloaded. Also, I will find out more details on Family and Friends and see if I can invite others to participate.

tell me about it - linux is the only reason, I had retained 2 PS3s all these years. After the last update, I realized linux was gone!!! I have sold one of my PS3s now due to this very reason. Might sell the other one too as I may just buy a bluray laptop (dont have time to game anymore - although god of war3 was fun)

Though I had downloaded FW 3.21 and also the next 3.30, I have not updated my Slim. So many Slim owners have complained problems on the slim after FW update 3.30. There is still no clarity on the issue/s.

Great to see another Halo-Universe fan And yes, Monday, & the Reach Beta is almost upon us. I got ODST just for the chance to participate in the Reach-Beta. There's another thread for sharing XBL gamertags, but I've since changed mine as a lot of guys kept thinking I was from China !

If you're really active on XBL, you should check out the GameGears-Gaming-League, Gamegears is also a great place to pre-order games & get sweet deals in the process.

P.S. - I still play Halo-CE (almost everyday) & think its one of the greatest FPS ever !

V v v late to this thread, but here's my two cents...

The PS3 is great as a cheap-ish Bluray player (with a shitty non-light in the dark remote) but is pretty lame as a games console, compared to the X360 anyway. The controller is crap and hasn't been truly upgraded in years, the triggers are too small and the hard edges on the sticks make my fingers hurt if I play for too long. The games are fine by themselves, but the lack of a true rewards system like Xbox rep points and a completely useless online experience ruin it for me.

The X360 is a fantastic games console but has absolutely CRAP reliability. I am on my THIRD X360 (which kind of attests to the fact that I really like the console!). HD-DVD lost the hi def format, so that sucks, but cheap ($3-4) HD-DVDs make up for that. The controllers on the X360 put the PS3 to shame, the online experience is fabulous, the dedicated anti-aliasing function on the graphics card sorts out jaggies way better than the PS3 could ever hope to.

Each has its advantages, I guess. The bottom line is that Microsoft has done bugger-all to market the Xbox brand here, while Sony has the advantage of two previous generations' worth of fans in India, which is why it shifts larger numbers of PS3s here compared to X360s. Also, the X360s now on the market have the smaller, less power-hungry chips in them, so reliability SHOULD be fine going forward. Took you long enough, Microsoft! :-s

I own both consoles (third time around for X360) so I don't really have a brand bias.

A 'new' 360 & Natal is christened

The 'new' XBox 360 has been launched

Integrated 45nm CPU & GPU.

Console appears much smaller than the present one, 250 GB HDD & in-built Wi-Fi.

Project-Natal has been christened Kinect & will be launched in November this year.

Was going through the engadget liveblog for this launch. As far as I am concerned Kinect is really good and this may result in xbox360 being really successful. Wii, Playstation need controllers in our hands for motion detection but having nothing in our hands makes it really natural!!!

I have a small query here. I want to buy a PS3 from Hongkong. Will the DVDs/Blu Rays available in India work on it ?

PS3 bought in Hongkong should be Region A for Blu-ray & Region 1 for DVD. Most Blu-ray and DVD sold in India are region-free. But usually it's cheaper to source BD's from US and you've more wider collection.

My PS3 Slim bought here in India directly from SONY shop is:

BD - Region C and DVD - Region 5, ALL.

Playstation3 format BD-ROM - 5, ALL.

Playstation format CD-ROM: PAL.

Since the vendor can import his stuff from any country, only the vendor can answer the query. There is no legal restriction of any sort that he should sell only those models specific to his country. And for your info, Australia legally prohibits region coding - construed as unfair and restrictive trade practice - and by force of this law all DVD and BD players sold there are region-free. So get one from Australia.

Yes,
This is going to be interesting. Sony is also releasing its Move ahead of Kinect - its going to be good competition. However, Sony had similar motion sensor to be holding while gameplay, I wish Kinect will have better tracking and real controller free experience.

Dont buy a Ps3 outside India as Sony India doesn't support international products .. you might get it cheap but if you face any problems with your console then you won't be able to get a replacement from them .. I had to send my ps3 back to US to get it replaced after it crashed
