Hello fellas,
First post on this thread. I will be traveling to Dubai towards the end of the year and am planning to pick up a gaming console. Currently I have a PS2 that I solely got because of GT4.

Even with the new console I will only play racing games and nothing else. I am not sure which one to pick up. PS3 has the GT5 series and Xbox the Forza. The amazing blu-ray player that PS3 has is tilting the scales there.

Anything else that I should be looking out for?

Thanks for the help.

Regards,

Sorry i have a noob question here,

>Wasn't some kind of ps store accessible from ps3 earlier? where we could see some new titles and download demos?

>Do we need to access this PS store from PC and download these demos or should it is accessible from ps3?

If I'm not wrong, previous PSN network logins if with Indian address won't allow to download many things. Saw this happen to one of my friend PSN a/c. I've used an US address to register myself. There might be other restrictions also which I'm not aware of.

You need to download the demo's from PS3 only. You need to go to PSN store and download the available demos. Lots of them available there, I've recently downloaded a few including Tennis Pro and few others.

Thanks for the clarification Kaushik.

I am also not able to access PlayStation Home from PS3. It says that particular content cannot be accessed.

If you can play the waiting game, just wait till December. I am sure that Sony would come up with a PS3 GT5 Bundle. Havent tried Forza, hence no comments on that.

Guys,

I have a question regarding the Kinect, could not find related thread on this before so posting it here.

I brought my xbox in blr but am planning on getting the Kinect from US. I also need a HD so planning to get the Kinect, 20GB HD and also Kinect Games from the US. My question is that will they all work here in India without any mods? I think the games are region coded. Wt abt the HD and the Kinect?

I do not think the 360 HDDs have any kind of region code on them. If you're planning to use your new Kinect with an older 360, you'll need to use the AC adapter that comes with it & you could run into the usual 110V/230V issue here (unless the adapter itself is compatible with both voltages). Otherwise, Kinect itself is pretty much like any other 360 accessory, no region codes & stuff...

I can just use the converter right to solve the 110v/230v issue

I heard the Kinect games are also not region coded which means I can safely get them shipped here from the US

Folks,
I inquired at the Sony store at Hyderabad and found that the PS3 with Move costs Rs 23500 now, and without the Move stuff it costs around 1000 less. The disk is 320 GB.

The same costs 400 USD in the US, per Amazon. If one adds 30 USD for the 220 V adapter, the cost in INR comes to around 20000. So does it make sense to buy one in the US, especially when there is a risk of no warranty when used in India?

Buy it locally. Unless you really care about Region A compatibility.

PS3 wifi

quick note to let the folks here know how to fix the ps3's legendary wifi problems. I tried every fix under the sun --from changing the dns entries to those from freedns to moving the ps3 closer to the router, it stayed as mercurial as ever -- but nothing would work

Finally, while searching for a solution on the internet I came across a fix so simple it seemed incredulous. The ps3 wireless card does two jobs - wifi and bluetooth for your controllers. Your wifi will be slow and painful if the card is doing both jobs. While downloading a large file, connect the controller using the cable, this switches bluetooth off and frees up the card to do the wifi job well. Ever since I employed this fix my connections are super fast and stable. No more wifi woes. Hope this helps.

Re: The big fight: Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 ?

hello folks,
i got the news that the PS3 could be cracked at a price of 4k to play pirated games which are pocket friendly, has anybody gone through this operation,
and is it safe enough since i have loosen my PS2 this way,
but cracking PS2 invloves modifying the hardware chip (So no more warranty) and as per the guy he told me that in PS3 only the software is modified hence warranty will still be there.

PS3 - installed custom firmware, not working!

Guys,

I've got a PS3 40Gb, 3 back, i gave it to my friend, who later tried installing some custom firmware. After he installed it, it didn't turn on. I tried too, yesterday, but it just doesn't.

I did some research, and some forums say i can't use it anymore. Some mention something about soldering something on something Now, i'm not a techie, so i don't know much about installing and fixing it.

Can anyone tell me if this can really be fixed? If yes, how?
