When installing Windows, yank the LAN cable out and do not setup WiFi. It should allow you to set up local account after a few warnings/ "you're missing out" messages that can be ignored.

Most tech youtubers too recommend this way, though old timers like us have known it for a long time.

Re: The Desktop Computer & Configuration Thread

Many problems attrributed to windows are due to Virus Infestation. So windows users please have a robust virus check installed, especially one that checks your online activities.

Please give me a configuration for cpu, budget for cpu max 35k, With basic cabinet.

Will be using it with Acer Nitro 24inch monitor, good?

Will be using it for watching movies, youtube, little bit of photo editing, trading(stock market) etc
Display quality should be the best that I can get at this price, cpu performance not that important.

I'd say the opposite holds true with improvements made to Windows Defender. You don't really need third party malware or anti virus software unless you are using an OS below Windows 10, you access suspect websites frequently.

I built a new PC recently and used a spare Norton 360 license. I was running into so many irritating notifications and warnings (The latter is basically Norton trying to sell you something else) that I finally removed it and the PC runs way better. I've had a good innings with Norton in the past and did not expect this.

Agree to this, Windows Defender has come a long way.
For the normal user WD is more than enough, but again it also depends on your browsing habits. If you are the kind of person who keeps going to questionable sites all the time and downloading shady stuff all the time then you might get hit.

But the bloatware that comes with these AV softwares are just too annoying.
I have been without any 3rd party AV for the last decade and face no issues.

Just curious why such a high end PSU? Wouldn't a 450-500 watt unit suffice?

I would recommend a Seasonic model. Any model should be fine.
Seasonics are built to last, and cost around 8-10K. Not sure of the latest prices. For this config, anything more than 450-500W is just not needed. If you pickup some 450's or 550's, the extra power would be a backup for future upgrades, if needed.

There are cabinets that come with SMPS (mostly 400W), and these are really VFM for budget PCs. I see in Amazon it starts from 2.5k. These used to be the defacto standard in the late 90s and these PS were built to last. I have assembled a few and the SMPS always outlasted the processor/motherboard. I wonder why no one recommends it now.

Here, https://amzn.eu/d/dgAVh1e. In the case of the MotherBoard, it is a bit high-end to make sure you can upgrade to ryzen 5000 down the line, it has m.2 storage.
