Home store is selling this for around 57K. They have a 365 day low price guarantee.
This has a 8000:1 contrast ration. Worth going for? I saw the demo, the picture quality is impressive. But then demo picture quality is always impressive.
I bought Samsung LA32R71BM for 57k after bargaining before the World Cup. I have no idea about the differece between the two. I guess you should check other showrooms and bargain for a better deal.

The installer from samsung told me that the image u see in the showroom is because of some component cable attached to the DVD player. He said it increases the clarity by few times. Still to check on that.

But u will surely need DTH for better picture quality.

the diffrence between the r8 and r7 is that the r8 has a contrast of 8000:1 while the r7 has 5000:1. the r8 also has 3hdmi inputs compared to one.

The options/features/choices available were just too much. So stopped reading and bought the LA32R81B yesterday for 57K all included. Delivery today, YAY!!

There was a Sansui 32" for 39K. I didn't get to compare the two but is the difference worth almost 20K?

Gears,
Red-One.

guys I am looking at a 46" LCD. Samsung's LA46M81 (Rs. 2.14L), LA46F71 (Rs. 1.87L) or Sony's X200A Rs. 2.57L). Any opinions? AM leaning towards the LA46M61 they claim is has a contract ratio of 15000:1. I dont need the 3 HDMI ports right now. My DVD player is not HD and neither is any setup box in INdia right now. The things is I dont want to upgrade in 12 months when HD becomes available and I dont have any TV now so I have to buy something.

This is our first TV. We never watched TV till now. We are also debating between Hatway and Tata Sky (prefer Tata Sky because we expect a better quality of service).

Here in Hyderabad, Tata Sky is fast losing customers as they are over promising on just too many things.

Navinji, the 46M81 is the latest and the best Samsung model available. The colour reproduction is better than the 46F71.

The X200A bravia is also a very good TV but IMO not worth the extra cash as the Samsung is better specd at a lower price tag.

Tatasky is not for mumbai. If it rains you are left with no Tv to view. Also they claim DVD quality video which is utter crap as the clarity will be good only on a normal CRT 29" TV. On the LCD it's pretty bad especially the colour reproduction which looks like it's 256K colours. The resolution I think is only 640X480. It will be better than regular cable but the settop box hathway cable will be better than tatasky.

Hi Navin,

Samsung LA46M81B (Mosel Blaque,1080p/1920X1080 resolution ) full HD TV is a good model . An ex-colleague of mine owns it & seems pretty happy with it..Its better to have as many HDMI ports as possible so once HD becomes more popular there will be no need to upgrade the tv then..

: an OT but not having a tv reminds me of my own situation when I got married 3.5 years ago. While I had a 21" panasonic "tao" tv we decided not to go in for a cable connection for a whole year so that we could spend some time together instead of watching tv after spending the whole day at work..TV was used only to watch movies on vcd/dvd. The cable situation changed only when parent came visiting & needed their dose of daily soaps on tv..

i would suggest you get the la46m81. its the best in the samsung range right now. 3hdmi ports is better since you will need them later on and then you wont have to upgrade.
i have had tata sky since last august. and ive had it through pretty much of the whole of last years monsoon. the signal stopped coming only about thrice in the whole monsoon that too only when there were very dark clouds in the sky. i also have an stb from incable and it s**ks bigtime. it keeps saying no signal and the service is terrible.

would be buying this tomorrow for 32k SAMSUNG's Digital World - LCD TV | LA26R71B

Was surprised to know that Bravia contrast ratio are lower than Samsung's for that price! And is it coz Samsung denotes it was Dynamic and Sony just contrast ratio?
