Even if its for the first 50 customers, its an awesome offer.

Vijay Sales had a couple of offers which were only for the first 11 customers who came before 11 o clock in the morning.

Btw my friend went to the shop and they didnt have a display piece. Hes going back in the afternoon.

No, the catch is for every customer who steps in they will say that your the 51st customer and therefore you pay the normal price

Hi Guys,

I am back in India and need to pick up a LCD TV for the home asap. We use Tata Sky and I was looking for something around 37". Checked out Samsung and Sony. Panasonic and Sharp were nixed since they dont have a service outlet here.

I liked the Samsung Bordeux Art 37" and the dealer quoted me Rs.69,000 including tax and installation. Is this a good price or can I do better if I get it from Calcutta or another Metro? Sony Bravia's looked pretty washed out compared to the Samsung so I am going to go with Samsung unless you all suggest something else.

My only qualm with the Bodeux Art is that it is not True HD - 1080i /p - the 1080p model is 1Lac+. I guess its not a big deal since we dont even have HD broadcast in India. I think it is 720i though which should be good enough for DVDs and standard def TV.

Also - does anyone know if Tata Sky has a box with component out (Red / Green / Blue). Here in jamshedpur, all I could see was the box with composite (Yellow). This is dissapointing since the broacast quality through these cables can never be HD even if they start broadcasting in high def.

Samsung is definetly on par with bravia series. Even i am planning to buy a 40" samsung during diwali. For current the price for 37" is quite ok. Is it LA37R81B? If you can wait till oct/nov the prices are going to get way lot cheaper.

Btw, we cannot use a HDMI cable for tata sky broadcasts? I mean is there an option?

Mobike - how cheap is cheap? if its a matter of 10K to 20K? but if its only 3 to 4K, I'd rather get it now. And yes it is LA37R81B.

And forget HDMI - I'll be happy with component (RGB); but on Tata Skys website I only see one box which has composite in.

Regarding how cheap, expecting a drop of minimum 10K to current prices during Dussera and Diwali as they are the season for most purchases of electronic equipment and cars.

Nope, Like I mentioned before, a friend of mine went to check out the deal. The 16k is the downpayment after which you have to pay EMIs.

II'd even settle for S-Video! But dont fret, there is so little HD software out there I wonder if it will make any difference.
