Scam may be too strong a word. There are people who really can't be bothered to do what the manual suggests. I admit that I rarely, for instance, clean AC filters myself, although if I become aware it is needed, then I do.

I don't have a dishwasher, although as systems manager, somehow the office fridge and dishwasher came under my charge! Certainly it was not serviced. Just levels (salt if I remember correctly) to check.

Washing machine service? Bunkum. There will be a panel where you can access the drain pump, unscrew the impeller, and clear the cat hair away. The system can be cleaned just by running an empty "boil" (90C) wash once or twice a year. Likewise, descaling if needed. But those guys will sell you descaler even if you live in an area where it is not needed.

What's with the LPG cylinders in Bangalore - The number of faulty cylinders they deliver seem to only be increasing!

This is 2nd faulty cylinder they've delivered in the last 3 months. Add to that, their emergency number (listed on the app) does not even go through -



After finally getting through on their toll free number, the person other ends says - "try and keep calling on that emergency helpline, it will ring soon enough!"

By faulty, I am.assuming that the cylinder starts leaking as soon as you open the protective white cap. In case you are unable to connect with the emergency number, do get hold of the cylinder delivery guy and get the small black rubber washers in the nozzles replaced. They usually carry a couple of these in their pockets and are happy to help in return for a small tip.

I know it is the responsibility of the agency to do it free of cost, immediately upon receipt of information. But we live in India!

Happened to me twice this year! In the first instance, they made us change the perfectly fine regulator . In the second case, again want us to change the regulator, but after telling that it was changed recently, they told the issue is with overfilling and the pressure will be normal within a day of usage. So I am suspecting the first case also was similar. In both the cases, the symptom was less pressure of gas and flameout of burners.

Does anyone have a good Soup maker ? We got this suggestion from a medical professional, I understand there are some good soup makers from Wonderchef, Philips, Agaro. Depending on the types of soup, it is a fairly easy and quick process apparently.

Here too. The rubber seal in the cylinder outlet not sealing. No such thing happened for twenty years, and now twice! We have been advised to check every cylinder on delivery, not wait until we change cylinders.

Do you mean a liquidizer? Quite a few mixies come with that extra tall jar for liquidizing. You might also take a look at the hand-held stick type, which you use in the pan.

Have been using wonderchef soup maker and pretty happy with it. In fact I have suggested to my family and friends too. It is fairly easy to make soup of any odd combination of veggies too. I just love it.

Yes, that exactly what seemed to be the issue. They eventually turned up within 2-hours of finally getting connected to them. Replaced the small rubber washer.

Quiet likely. Many places around have moved to piped (natural gas) connection. Hopefully that soon becomes a norm so we get rid of the LPG cylinder dependency.

If you mean a dedicated soup maker you're essentially only really after a blender. I've found handheld stick blenders with the soup making attachment the best for this. Like mentioned earlier, the benefit is you can dip it into container, often the pot you've just cooked the ingredients in and blend your soup.

Otherwise I've seen folks use things ranging from bullet blenders to the really expensive blenders from Vitamix for eg.

What kind of attachment is this? Our Morphy Richards (Bajaj) has a stainless steel foot but the owner's manual does not recommend use with hot liquids.

Any suggestions for smart lock for the main door? I’m thinking to get one but not sure which brand would be safe and reliable. Of course there is Godrej which is a reliable household name. However, a quick google search also suggests Qubo, Atomberg and Lavna.

Anyone using any of these brands? Or a smart lock in general? How’s the experience? Do you suggest to get one or stick to traditional locks?

How are the various battery powered blowers one sees advertised? Useless toys or any useful ones? I mean for small stuff, computer, electronics etc, not for cleaning the car!

My Bosch Dishwasher is amazing. But then it was not.

All the glass and steel dishes would come out with a weird greyish discoloration on them.

We finally figured out the problem was not with the dishwasher but the detergent we were using.

I had purchased Finish brand before and never had any issues. These come in a pack of two.

The fourth bottle we had, that was most probably a fake sent by Amazon.

The first 3 bottles did not have any issue, which is why we did not suspect it.
I ordered the Bosch detergent and by the third wash, all the dishes were back to sparkling clean.

I find the Bosch detergent cake(the white one in individual pack) the best in cleaning ability. Bit expensive and no offers usually.

Any feedback on how the Bosch detergent compares with Fortune? We have been using Fortune and it's pretty good and very cost effective. But then we don't use it everyday now-a-days with the main situation improving after covid. However, want to know where does Fortune lie as far as quality is concerned.
