This one is from Havells and you can easily push the earthing hole with plastic.

I agree and would also advise not to use any extension. It'd be much easier and cheaper to replace faulty socket with a good one where the earthing pin can be pushed easily to allow 2 pin plug.

Replacing the 2 pin 16A plug with a 3 Pin plug will not void warranty. You can go ahead and get a good quality 16A plug from Cona/Lisha/HiFi/Anchor and do a transplant. The earth pin will be dummy but will work for pushing the locking pin in the socket.

When I purchased Karcher pressure washer years ago, it came with EU plug. The dealer chopped off the EU plug and installed Indian 16A plug. No impact on warranty.

I don't know about the board, but I had a huge scare when my tiny 600W Bissell 1611 stick (British plug) started billowing out smoke last month plugged into a surge protector. Even with the small converter block I used at home, it always became very hot within a couple of minutes.

It's not good to use a coiled electric cable, but, to be honest, the one I saw catching fire was one of those plastic-drum-with-socket things, so the cable was tightly coiled, and the load on it was an electric room heater, could have been 2kW.

I bought a Bluestar Inverter 5 star ac in 2021 and we have been never happy with the cooling. In the initial year, the guys from Bluestar would say this is the maximum that this ac can cool and when I would show my other same-sized bedroom with Voltas they would just say cooling differs from brand to brand. The problems started even more after the first year warranty. I have had to pay innumerable times for gas recharge and also last year had to change the entire coil itself. When the guys mentioned about changing the coil, I had made up my mind to buy a new ac there and then, but they somewhat convinced me that out of a million sometimes once in a way one experience goes awry and asked me to change the coil and stick around with Bluestar as they are a good brand. Now its come to a pass that every 2-3 months there is gas leakage and every visit they want 1500 to top up. Now that its Diwali time, problems with AC have begun and I am on a lookout for ac with five year COMPREHENSIVE WARRANTY. The thing is it seem sonly Bluestar is offering one which covers gas leakage at the moment LG says it does but only if it is caused due to compressor issues. No one else does even if you pay upwards of 50K for Mitsubishi or Ogeneral. I hear some Carrier acs offers comprehensive warranty at Vijay sales according to their website, so will be checking those this weekend. Anyone have any other suggestion, please do advise, thanks.

Voltas also offers a 5-year Comprehensive Warranty on some models of its ACs bought through Croma, I bought one online through Croma's website in August with a 5-year comprehensive warranty, free installation and free AC wall mounts as well, it was quite a good deal. Do check out their terms and conditions though and double-check that the AC is eligible for 5 year Comprehensive Warranty from the Croma store near you.

Godrej, Hitachi and Carrier also have a 5-year extended warranty on some of their ACs sold through select channels, but I don't have much information on the same.

However, of all these brands, I have felt that Voltas has been offering an overall better experience (two ACs in my home and a handful in our family) with value-for-money products, although we do have all Blue Star ACs in our supermarket and they have functioned well thus far too.

Amongst the two, nothing much to reject / select I would say. However, you are getting a bigger model in Panasonic for slightly lesser price.

That aside, both these are bit expensive, did you check out LG, since their customer care and product is good in longer run. Though nowadays, I see more expensive brands being pushed by the sales team in shops, could be due to margins.

Electrolux is new to India after a second entry in around 2022. As of now they have no manufacturing base in India. Service network would be very limited as well. So if you are the unlucky one to need service or a spare, you would face challenges.

Godrej, Bosch, Whirlpool, LG, Samsung, Panasonic, IFB, Voltas-Beko are some of those who have refrigerator manufacturing base in India. Some of their models could still be imported or OEM sourced.

Among these two I would recommend Panasonic owing to its better service network and manufacturing base in India. Moreover, it has a 2-year comprehensive warranty and 4 modes of operation and seems to be overall better value than the other model.

Hitachi and Carrier have five years comprehensive warranty sans gas charging. Only Godrej offers wholesome warranty and they are also the cheapest by far, at 1.5 ton for 35,000 but there are so many negative reviews about Godrej out there on the net, just one too many for my liking, especially the aftersales service. After doing all my research, I might finally go for Voltas again, you can buy extended Voltas brand warranty that includes gas charging as well for 1+4 years.

If you already have a Voltas and are relatively happy with it why change a company that works for you?

I have 3 voltas 1.5 tons non inverter ACs purchased over a period of 3 years with roughly a year's interval between each. Before that I had a Samsung inverter which gave so many problems that I swore off inverters. My main reason for buying the first Voltas unit was the 5 year extended warranty. The subsequent ones were cause of their excellent service.

Also please note, their extended warranty is more expensive if you purchase the unit online.
