Hey Guys
My nokia E90 is now more than 2 years old!!! Actually I bought it the day it was launched in Delhi 29th June 2007 and am very satisfied with this phone!!!

I do not plan to sell the phone but the battery (the same that came with the set) now doesn't even last for a day whereas earlier it used to last for a good 2 days without fail!!!

What is the optimum time to change the battery???
And how much should it cost??

I do not want to buy from the grey market.

Any update info guys!!!
I am confused as some guys are selling the battery for 1.4k and others for 2.2k!!! Both say that they are genuine with bill and warranty!!!

What to do?

Hello Harjeev, you are right the original battery backup lasts for more than 2 days. A genuine battery will cost around 1.5k. Check at a trustworthy outlet. There are batteries in the range of 500 to 600 but they will not last long and will overheat on continous use. I use my E90 continously for web browsing on Jb5 or Ucweb. The phone has good backup. A nice experience.

I was quoted 1500 for a battery for my dad's E90.
Mine hasn't had an issue but lasts for around 1.5 to 2 days.

I bought a new battery from a Nokia Priority dealer and paid 2.2 k for it. (B&W)

The new one lasts for 2 days. Had I looked for couple of more shops I could have easily saved a couple of hundred bucks but I had to leave out of station and the old one was pretty useless!!!

new firmware 400.34.93 is out. Dint notice too many changes. web pages load faster now. and the os feels faster (may be psychological).
More than 2 years after launch nokia is still providing updates which is really nice. Cant wait for the next communicator. (hope it is not touch screen)

Isn't the E75 the new communicator?

The new firmware has good flash compatibility. It has flash 3 so we can stream youtube and the quality of browsing has increased while surfing flash enabled sites. Moreover, newer rtsp protocols are added to enable more multimedia filetypes. The OS seems marginally faster. I have read in some discussions where bloggers state its display resolution is better with the latest firmware. There are a lot minor improvements on the S60 webkit based web browser in the new update 400.34.93/21-04-2009/RA-6/Nokia-E90 RA(27)

E90's price has remained stationary for long & still there are no signs of decreasing.
E75 can do what the E90 can leaving a few out but its newer & comes in small package. Still E90 appeals more to me than E75.

How to transfer sms-es from Phone memory to Card memory?

Guys i have a problem. Please help me solve it.

The phone memory of my E90 is almost full and i have only recently, since the last few days switched over to the card memory (2GB).

I find there are no options to copy the data especially sms-es from phone memory to card memory. Im not talking about backup, im talking copying so that the next time i switch my cell on in card memory, the transferred data should show up.

Im sure there is a solution, please explain what i have to do step wise.

Thanks.

V-16 what i would do is use pc suite to back up messages, contacts, documents, pictures and calender entries to the pc (pc suite) and format your phone once. This will clear up all the clutter from the phone. AFAIK messages doesnt use too much memory. I have over 6000 messages in mine and it hardly uses about 10 mb. Contacts also doesnt use much space.
I have noticed if the messaging memory is set the sd card it kind of slows down the messaging app a bit.
Do not save pictures music documents etc. on the phone

EDIT: while you are at it upgrade the firmware also.

hi gogi!
as you said you have selected the storage memory to memory card,it would have given you a information message, something like this,
"copy all messages to the new message memory"?with two options, yes or no.if you select yes it will make a copy of all the phone memory messages on the memory card & from there on you will be able to access these messages only on any of the E series phone.if you are planning to buy a new phone you can always transfer the messages through "switch" application.hope this helps.

Just a little offbeat topic. I use my E90 extensively for net browsing, using various browsers like Opera mini, Ucweb, jB5, Ozone and Bolt. The native browser of the E90 supports javascript and flash but not fully. Ucweb has fair page rendering capacity with no java or flash. Jb5 is similar with very lilttle cache size. Opera mini is very mini when page entry and page input is concerned. The best full fledged web experience is only delivered by Ozone ([mobile] Ozone). It has a few bugs but otherwise its wonderfull, full formation of pages and no truncation of any tabs or text of the web page. Its interface looks like iphone's safari browser, technically no connection. It is only available for s60v3 devices.
