E90 freezing problem

hello,

i have a nokia E90 purchased about a year months ago. warranty period over. the phone keeps freezing a lot. i have removed all additional softwares that i had. the phone is as it was supplied by Nokia. Also got the software version updated at a Nokia Care. But that doesnt seem to help.

would really appreciate if someone could help me out on this. It freezes even if i get a call and it re starts on its own.

Try Hard Formatting it to the original factory settings.

Warning

If you do this you will loose all your data, everything and the phone will come back to the original setting as it came out of the box.
Then try using the phone and see it it still hangs for freezes!!!

I have tried that already. have also updated the latest software twice. Once Nokia Care did it and second time i did it using PC suite. Still the problem exists. Initially i thought the 3rd party S/w were creating problems, but right now my phone has nothing in it. It is as it came from Nokia with only my Phone book and a 1 GB memory card, which also has been formatted and contains no data on it.

This is strange!
I tried the hard format only once but it worked for me.
Just to clarify there are 2 ways to format

'*' + '3' + 'send' + 'power on'

The 1st one is more effective. Have you tried it???

Yeah when the phone is off
For E90 you have to press and hold the three mentioned buttons while switching on the phone by pressing the power button.

Just as a warning and I had mentioned this earlier too

Please try this at your own risk.
This 1st option worked for me, but might give unpredictable results with your phone
.

To add to what harjeev said,

1) Make sure your battery is full when you do the hard-reset
2) Remove the microSDHC card from the bay (and close the bay) before you do the hard reset.

I haven't yet used harjeev's first method, but have used the second method twice. The phone has to be on to hard-rest it that way.

Guys, I've been following this thread off and on as I've a E90 purchased almost 2 years ago but very rarely used. The more used one is the 9500 communicator. I'm so used to it that can't let go of it either.

Now for the last few days I've switched over the phones - the E90 is the main and the 9500 the standby. I also got a GPRS connection from Airtel on the E90.

I'm facing a funny problem. I am basically using the GPRS to be on Google latitude (Google maps downloaded) so that my family and friends know where I am and doing what .

Every time I switch the Google maps to check the status of my friends and relatives, it simply doesn't download/display the maps and the position. It endlessly keeps on retrying. Even the GPS also takes time to get a satellite reading at times.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem somewhere? Why is the GPRS slow? A similar connection from the same service provider to a friend of mine using E71 has blazing speeds and the latitude fixing is realtime always.

Finally a new firmware - Latest available software for Nokia E90,
Version: 300.34.84 is availalbe.

My current firmware is:

V 07.24.0.3
12-06-2007
RA-6
Nokia E90 27

SHould one upgrade to this? Has somebody done that already and if so, with what result.

Sorry for this long post and several queries...

Try Nokia Maps 3.0, It takes 2 mins to catch the signal, but once thru it's awesome, it gives routes to destination and also has voice guidance option.

Even on my mobile Google maps don't work properly and keep giving rety message.

Did u try upgrading to google maps 3.0?

Did nokia stop selling the E90 ? I always thought nokia sold a communicator till a new one was launched.
I cant help you find a phone but try and pick up a black color e90 not red or brown.
nokia fixed a couple of problems when they launched the black color.
