Called few reatilers in delhi and dealers mentioned on Fuji india website for punjab and delhi,Fuji 6500FD is not available but one dealer has it and he quoted 17k for it.
9600 is available for 15600 without b/w and for 21300 for warranty.
5700 is available for 7500 without b&w and 11500 for warranty.
It will be great if any one can confirm the availablity of 6500 FD if they have seen it anywhere.

Have a great day!

I think the model is F6000FD and should be available for around 10K without B&W.

Fuji 6000/6500 fd discontinued

Fuji 6000/6500 fd were discontinued officially between july-sept 2007. it was sold at 20K in india and 300 US$. around june 2007 it was offered for 250 $ in USA. later the price increased. i got it in Dec 2007 for 328 US$ from US. 6500 and 9600 share same sensor but megapixels are more in 9600 and i think external shoe for flash is present. 9600 is still available in India both grey and official market.

Gill, you can look at this thread and call up the dealers listed.
If the 6000FD is discontinued, it wil be hard finding it.

TSK, called all the retailers on the list yesterday(You gave this list to me earlier too),all of them, even the dealers mentioned on their website for delhi ncr and punjab. No one is having 6500/6000 in stock, though 9600 is available for 15600.
Then i called Fuji india office and had a word with Area sales Manager-Delhi,he checked out with his distributor and reverted ack that only one piece is available(Pritam pura-Delhi) it's MRP is 20,200 and discount givn will be 15%,which i think is on a higher side.
So I am getting down to S3 cause of flip lcd or Fuji 5700.
S3....where r u S3???

I would suggest the 5700 as its a better value for money. However it does not have Image stabilization. If that feature is important for you, take S3, otherwise the 5700 is a better bet.

i agree to, in chandigarh the retailers are asking for 12800-13550 for fuji5700 with warranty, where as rajinder is quoting 7500 w/o B&W and 11500 with B&W where as on ebay it's available for 8500 with one year dealer warranty. Now should i go for warranty or fuji products are reliable enough provided a user dosn't abuses the cam.

All large camera products are relaible.
for example I bought a 350D with bill and warranty and I never got the chance to use the warranty.
In retrospect. I may wonder why didn't I save 15K then, but I got peace of mind.
So if you want peace of mind and don't want to push your luck, buy with bill and warranty.
Dealer warranty is all hogwash.
Get proper warranty from Rajinder.

Need P&S help

I'm looking for a compact point and shoot for general family use. Already have a DSLR system for the more demanding stuff. This camera would be more of a general carry around camera for my wife which I would be using on rare occassions. I'm familiar with the general limitations of a p&s sensor so not looking for anything extrordinary. Would prefer to limit the outlay to under 10k. I need suggestions on which ones to look at. I've filled out the requirements template from one of the earlier posts below.

Budget
* What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible.
Up to 10k
Size
* What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?
Something small, easy to carry in a ladies' handbag

Features
How many megapixels will suffice for you?
Anything over 6 should be ok

* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x)
Standard should be fine. Have a DSLR system for the heavy stuff

* How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)
10.
Do you care for manual controls?
Need some manual controls for when I use it. Most of the time it would be on auto though

General Usage
* What will you generally use the camera for?
Social occassions, light duty stuff
* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not?
No but regular prints-yes!
Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?
yes but will be using the flash for this
Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?
Rarely
Miscellaneous
Would prefer CF cards but not a major constraints
Are there particular models you already have in mind?
No. My better half has used Nikon and Olympus. I've used Canon. Neither of us is stuck on any of these brands.

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)
Wide angle would be useful. Image stabilization and flip LCD are nice to haves which I wont miss too much if they arent there.

Suggestions and tips would be much appreciated.
