Thanks Guys.

Navin ji, have you been using this camera?
If yes, hows the picture quality?

And how would it be in comparison to the Panasonic DMC TZ7.

Around 24000 INR.

Is it better than the Canon SX200?

He shipped it in the last possible moment and I received it on Saturday.. The pack looked messed around with. The camera was wrapped in a piece of thermocol inside the pack. The dealer warranty card for 1 year was slipped inside. I glanced at the card and saw 'owner pays for parts' and trashed it.

Panasonic claims the battery comes without any charge and is fully charged in 130 minutes. Mine got charged in 30 minutes (Was used before?).

All other accessories were packed per original packing..

Camera looked new. Tested it with around 100 snaps on Sat, Sunday and Today. This is my 7th camera and nothing has come ever close. The experience with purchase was replaced with sheer joy of working with the camera.

I would strongly recommend the camera. The purchase from ebay, consider it if you do not have better options..

Thanks for the headsup, Devak. The camera's obviously treating you well in terms of picture quality (I can hardly wait). But I think I'm going to stick it out with regular Mumbai camera dealers.

If you are buying locally I suggest you pay a visit to JJ Mehta. Good prices, and excellent service. Most people who have shopped there have only good words

I've got my previous two cameras from JJMehta, Tanveer. They don't have the LX3 in stock! Sold out wherever I checked. Must be a heck of cam.

Must be a good camera no doubt, but I think its not in stock because there was not much demand in the first place. Quite expensive for a digicam.

A close contact, JJMehta & Alfa have all stated "out of stock".

But yes, I do agree. The stocks were probably limited to start with, considering its price.

I must say that i've been quite intrigued by the LX-3 since i first heard of its existence (on this thread itself).

I've spent the last many years waiting for manufacturers to stop cramming in more and more MPs and start expanding sensors - which the LX-3 has finally done.

Heres an awesome video, taken in fairly low light (evening?) conditions on the LX3, check it out :

I have been singing praises of LX3 since last November: https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/1045561-post3026.html

But the zoom-centric public don't realise the value of this pocket size miracle. Therefore, there is less demand, and less inventory.

GTO, if you are forced look beyond LX-3 due to non-availability, you should look at Fujifilm Finepix F200 EXR, that was my second suggestion. It has a very special sensor.

Tried and Tested.

Canon Powershot SX200 IS and Panasonic DMC TZ7.

Liked the natural picture outcome of the Canon . Though the Panasonic was a bit vivid but still it wasn't as natural as the panasonic.
Have ordered my Canon.

23000 including the camera + 4 gb card + an additional 8 gb card.

Based on what I've read, the FZ28 is an excellent camera. I'm not sure how much the Canon G10 sells for in India but thats a great camera too. I'd say go for either one of them. I'm not a big a fan of the sony cameras except for their ultracompact t-series and their alpha range of slrs.
