re: The home / office air-conditioner thread

Thad and Mortis; Thanks for warning me. The product is only as good as the service. I was enthusiastic about Sharp, but no more.

Voltas is providing 5 year comprehensive warranty as a special offer until April 30. Warranty includes all electronics and functional parts.
Exclusions: plastic parts and labour charge. The info is not available on their website, but you can confirm it by calling their toll free number.

I bought a Voltas Inverter AC after hearing about this warranty. Was considering the premium brands, but none had warranty beyond 1 yr for electronics. And as we all know, the electronic boards of Inverter ACs are very expensive.

I don't rule out that it was all true, in the reviewer's experience at the time. It may be true that the company had the best intentions. I wonder what happened?

Speak of the Devil and..... Sharp AC fails again !

So last night one of the ACs that had its condensor replaced in Aug last year has stopped cooling again. Just great. A big fatka to the pocket is expected for Nitrogen testing, replacing a cooling coil or condensor + gas refilling.

Im really regretting this purchase. 3 out of 5 ACs have had major problems inside the 2 year mark. Thats a 60% failure rate, which could be higher if you consider the other 2 acs are barely used. All the failures have been to parts and consumables not covered under their AMC which cost 5500 a year.

I hope it doesnt come across as though I have a Vendetta against Sharp, its just my experience which has been pathetic. I am definitely suffering from buyers remorse

I would advise others also to avoid the Sharp Inverter ACs

I think I will stick to 5 star non inverter ACs until atleast a 2nd gen or long term report is out on inverters.

My 6 years old LG 1 ton split AC is having low cooling and I have taken it with LG service center. The technician send by LG identified it to be an issue with gas pressure and quoted 2500 Rs for gas refill. I believe it's on the higher side ,not sure if service sender is trying to take me for a ride

Full gas recharge by most vendors in Pune is about Rs 2000.
In your case it appears to be a simple "top up", which should entail less than 1000 rupees expenses.

There are several AC technicians available on JustDial and Sulekha.
BTW most of the LG/Sharp/Daikin etc authorized guys are also these same JustDial, Sulekha folks only

AC pipe rusting due to Drain

Hello,

Recently we got couple of AC installed in Dwarka. What I came to know from the neighbor's that, there is constant problem of rusting of AC pipes due to gases emitted by near by drain.

While looking for solutions I came across a product mentioned below? Would appreciate any more solutions, as this process is tedious.

Sounds much more like Sharp has a vendetta against you

I've heard something about shortage of parts being a worldwide problem. What has happened to Sharp? Used to be a good company.

Shelf life? Is this what you are looking for?

Yeah, the coatings should definitely work, however the thing is that you can coat the copper pipes running between the Outdoor unit (compressor+condenser) and indoor unit (blower+expander).

But how would you coat the copper tubing running inside the condenser surrounded by all the fins?

That exactly, I am thinking how to coat the fins and tube. I've couple of split Air-cons installed and its not easy to take the entire unit out and coat them with this product, especially when they are brand new :-)

I've two HITACHI 3 star 1.5 Ton AC installed 6 years back. No problem whatsoever till date. We use only during summers. Touch wood, I never spent a rupee till date. We only clean the filters when summer starts.

re: The home / office air-conditioner thread

I might be getting good deals on Carrier and Hitachi splits. Are they worth buying? I always look for a hassle free experience and good cooling obviously.
Or I should go with the trusted LG and silent Daikin ones?
