What say Guys ?

Another thing - X1 has GPS / A-GPS. Any use of this to me ?
Well the HTC Touch Pro and SE X1 are basically same devices in different body shells so I dont see any sense in paying 6k over and above the pro. The Pro comes from HTC which have a long history with Windows mobile unlike SE. I would say go for the HTC Touch Pro or the Nokia E71 as suggested above.

Wait for a while, SE usually cuts prices after a few weeks and it should be more affordable. Their P series have not done too well lately and I think they have done well to dump UIQ and move on. The X1 is the right step towards this direction. But SE are known to cut prices within a month or two after the launch of the handset. I would wait for that. Also things being the way they are prices are bound to come down sooner rather than later.

I feel sony got the xperia pricing all wrong - they don't have anything more than omnia and diamond - correct me if needed plz
I based my opinion on NDV Gadget Guru's review.

X1 is more userfriendly. Other than that for me brand matters. Am a Sony Ericsson freak

i am not sure if i can trust these shows anymore, did they really say xperia was more user friendly than htc tflo3d??
I too was a sony erricson freak for my first phew phones (never used a nokia even though i worked at nokia ) - then i got into the world of windows mobile with o2, htc (and some company provided phones like samsung and palm treo). Hopefully sony's venture into windows mobile will bring me back in some day. For now I am enjoying my htc diamond and would still recommend htc touch hd or samsung omnia over the 'multiple desktops' xperia

I tried the X1 today and found its screen to be brilliantly clear. The touch features are OK and IMO not as good as HTC. In fact , i dont really understand the utility of a touch screen with qwerty. For anybody into serious mailing on the mobile , the touch screen is just a fad with no use . BTW, HTC touch HD is a 50k phone. This is what being overpriced really means...

Some advice please! I need a new phone and the toss up is between the Blackberry Bold and the Nokia E71. My email usage would be limited and the phone would be used more for casual browsing and stuff like that.

Considering that the price is the same (out here in Canada), what phone would you guys recommend? Primary concerns are the performance, ease of use and software availability.

@mohit - the bold is a better bet. E71 is a very good phone but keys are too small to type I feel.

I am getting my x1 today from Delhi !! I think it is around 40k . Please let me know price if anyone else has brought it.

@mohit & @vkochar - if you aren't using mails much, i would recommend the E71 as its cheaper. But then again, if its browsing mainly - why not iPhone?

I use BB BOLD and i love it - but mainly for the mail capability.

@ vkochar - 40k seems to be the going price as of now. Just checked yesterday. Let us know what you think of the phone.

@ mohit, - I use a E71 and have had the chance to use the BB Bold. I would say if both are the same price go for the Bold, simply for the screen. Anyways the camers suck on both the phones and surfing is as good on both of them.

Thanks guys - made me think a bit more on why I need it. IPhone is attractive but is about 2.5 times the money ($99 v/s $250).
I basically need a phone that would keep checking my gmail and would provide me with a platform for email/surfing when I am away from home. My cellphone provider is pushing blackberrys big time (I can get a BB curve for free) but E71 is like an afterthought.

I do like the E71 for the application support and the form factor. Can anyone provide feedback on the keyboard? Maybe I should go to a store and check it.

Don't care about the camera much. Have been living with crappy camera phone for ever so don't really care. I would probably have to get a N95 for the camera but am not too keen on that one.

Yippee !! My X1 has been purchased by my cousin in Delhi. I would get it only after a 2-3 days when he comes to Agra.

He paid 40k for it in Delhi with B&W. Nov 2008 Model.

He says it is the most advanced phone he has ever seen.

I have never seen the phone till date, one of my most expensive purchases without even seeing it
