el-cheapo open baffle desktop speakers

I wanted to experiment with Open baffle speaker [in this case some really old Creative speaker drivers mounted on carboard panes]. I was pleasantly surprised to see the results:

Otherwise Swans 1080 monitors are my desktop speakers.

Re: Which computer speakers do you use

Hello,

Having built my first PC, I am looking for sound system recommendations.

I am by no means an audiophile, but neither am I willing to settle for speakers that sound like Garbage. I listen to a lot of bass-heavy music so oopmh is non-negotiable.

Also, wanted to ask the forum if there are any 2.1 setups with a wireless subwoofer?

Thanks

Could try Logitech's 2.1 THX speakers. That sub is a monster. I used to have it till a few years back. Moved onto a pair of Edifier R2750DBs with a Topping DAC. Could not be happier

Ultimately depends on your budget and just how much you want to spend on music.

Oh and got my Schiit Loki Equalizer. It's been fun fiddling the knobs around listening to music.

The open baffle setup actually sounds very sweet! I'm surprised these old creative drivers could sound so good. Do they have a good bass response? Would be interesting to see the frequency response graph if you could measure it.

Otherwise the Swans are an excellent choice! I wanted to get a pair myself, but ended up with a pair of Edifiers. Blame the convenience of online shopping!

Sorry, I didn't take a FR measurement. Nope, bass was definitely lacking.

Swans were good but off late they were sounding muffled and lacking details. I even tried running them with external cross-over and amps. But right now I'm experimenting with Line Source Open Baffle speakers for desktop listening. This is still a WIP project but sounds interesting, airy and effortless. But definitely needs bit of tweaking..

My older Creative speakers have given up.

Spotted a Philips unit. Logitech does not appears available.

Anything else? Budget = maybe, ~15K.

I got the Logitech THX Z906 for 18K. The Z623 was going for 8-9K I believe. However now all sales have stopped and its better if you check the local computer stores for better deals.

May i suggest a pair of Edifier bookshelf speakers?

https://www.amazon.in/Edifier-R1855D...dp/B08GJCLKW3/

https://www.amazon.in/Edifier-R1280D...dp/B095NGCWSV/

Or if you need 5.1, then Edifier has a set for that as well

Me? My PC speaker journey started with Cambridge PC works 4.1 back in the day, then Creative series, then logitech and now set with a pair of massive Edifier speakers and Topping DAC and Schitt EQ. Life is good (Mainly for music, movies not so much)

Bookshelf speakers are always nice & upgradable. Do you recommend them buying online from these links or from physical stores for better deals ?

Another popular option are the Harman Soundsticks which I saw going as low as 10K for gen 2 online during sales.

The only bookshelf speaker pair i have bought was from Amazon So no experience with buying them from physical stores. Then again, don't have much by way of choice in this neck of the woods.
