Just got me a Airtel Data card..... although speed with a Reliance card is slightly better (as seen in delhi )...the monthly damage for airtel is much lower 350/- per mth ( for 500 MB) ...as compared to reliance( minimum 650/- for one GB )...
I am using Airtel in roaming in kolkata at the moment...dont know if it would be any better in non-roaming in delhi ( have not used in Delhi as yet)..... The Airtel card however is more exp at 6100/- as compared to reliance 4999/- ..but Airtel can be used abroad as well.... even thogh you have to shell out astrnomical connectivity charges as per country wise Foreign ISP GPRS rates...

I got airtel mostly because of lower monthly cost and a superb service record..Reliance in that deprtment really sucks...The word service does not exist in there dictionary......


BTW speeds with Bluetooth / Cellphones really suck ( worse than dial up )..so I would advise users not to go for that option....

is your usage really low?

cos reliance works out 50 bucks cheaper if you use 1 gb

jus got myself an ACER 1640 yesterday (im currently in pune on the great indian road trip)
conf :
intel pentium 1.6 GHz, 400 Mhz FSB, 2MB L2 Lache
60 GB HDD
DVD Dual Double layer RW
512 MB RAM
wireless Lan
Bluetooth
card reader
optical mouse
softwares n all

got all this for 45,000 , love the 15.4" TFT Lcd

now im lookin for the rel data card.. but i will be roamin all over india (leavin for goa tomm, onto mlore, blore n all)
i will b back to delhi in dec (hometown)
now the thing is, is there nething as roaming on these data cards? as in, shall i ask my bro to send me a card from delhi or shall i buy one from pune itself n keep using it and den back to delhi forever n use it there too..

Guys Pl help me decide which laptop out of these??

Acer 5002 (AMD Turion ML 30 1.6 Ghz)
Acer 3682 (Celeron M 420 1.6 Ghz)
Comapq V3122TU (Celeron M 420 1.6 Ghz)
All have 512 MB Ram but diff FSB.

please reply if somebody has personal experience with these models. I am basically interested in better multitasking abilities and doesnt want apps to hang /slow down too much. Not able to decide whether celeron M or AMD Turion will be better for these tasks.

iv own a dual core turion right now nd my previous laptop was a celeron. i can tell u tht the turion is MUCH better even though its just 1.8 nd my celeron was 2.8

however iv also got a lot more ram now so it might be cos of tht.

also you might wanna up the ram if ur gonna run vista on it

Well there is no roaming on these cards & you can use them to access the net all over the country without paying any additional charges. I was in Mumbai last week & used my TATA card which incidentally was bought from & is billed in Moradabad, UP.

My suggestion would be that you get the card from Delhi as in the long term (read as after your trip) you'll be using it in Delhi only so the bills will be coming to your Delhi address. If you buy from Pune, how do you intend to pay the bills??

The turion is not dual core which i have in mind. Any way thanks for the info . I plan to statrt with 512 mb RAM. It is DDR at 333 FSB. Any more info on performance??

go for DDR2 400 instead. turion x2 chipset supports it.

turion is single core but 64 bit
turion 64 is the dual core version

up the ram man......or make sure u put it in as 512 x1 and not 256x2 tht way u can add another 512 later on

Turion and turion 64 are te same cpu's.

For dual cores look at cpu's with X2 extensions.

Via has finally been able to push their cpu's in the notebook market. The gpu is an integrated via gpu. So nvidia is still out in the cold alone.

i intended to use a fren's details to buy it in pune and pay the bills from any rel web world across india. but then i decided to buy it from del itself n my bro couriered it to blore, where i currently am.

ot : i wonder if any company has coverage in north-east, as we will also be going that side

bought Compaq V3122, 1.6 Celeron, 512 DDR2(667FSB) RAM, DVD dual layer writer, wide bright screen, card reader, express card slot(alas no PCMIA) wilreless LAn etc. looks good as it is a new stylish design. will post about the pereformance after using it. Costed me 36500 .
