Re: The Home Theater thread

Thanks Guys,
So We ended up repairing the IC of subwoofer again for 10k. And its working perfectly fine as of now.
But got to demo a few soundbar systems and enjoyed it. My dad liked the idea of Jbl Bar 800 and 1000 pro with detachable surround speakers and almost finalised it as Bose and Sonos were very very expensive.
Sony A9 looks different but promising if it can give excellent sound with those bulky speakers.
With Bose I think after 5-6 years they start to give problems. I have Lifestyle V35 and Lifestyle T20 system. Both have been repaired multiple times. One system was bought in US and other in India. Not sure how long other brands last. But since we are happy with the clarity and neutral sound of Bose, we decided to repair it for one last time.

If you're buying it in India, and have a smaller room you can start with the Beam soundbar and two Era 100 surrounds. Would set you back about Rs. 1 lakh. You can add a Sub Mini later on.

If you're buying from the U.S., you should get the whole set for a little over Rs. 1L.

If it's a larger room, get the Arc soundbar first and then expand as you feel the need to.

Circuit issues with sub. Good for you if no issues are there - add rear surrounds, they will upscale the game altogether.

Mine was repaired twice for both V35 and T20. Both use same sub.

Re: The Home Theater thread

I picked up a zebronics 5.1, and not being an audiophile it suits my purpose just fine. My primary criteria was satellites, which this fulfilled within budget.
Its a decent sounding systems, but I face an issue of disconnection.

The system is connected via HDMI ARC, and when the TV goes to screensaver/standby, it doesn't connect back up when the TV is turned back on. I mean, the sound bar remains on, but doesn't give any output. It has to be toggled on and off. Otherwise it works perfectly fine, and doesn't ever disconnect during use.

Can anyone explain why this happens, and how to fix it?
The TV is a oneplus, if that helps.

Re: The Home Theater thread

Help: Connecting DTH STB > 5.1 HT > TV

My existing 2.1 HT system giving trouble so I am interested in connecting other HT which was used for another TV (now idling) and for that I need some assistance.

Connection needed from TATA Play STB to Samsun HD TV and then to Sony Blu-Ray Home theatre 5.1 system.

How the connection is to set up?

From some searches, I got a solution like:

STB HDMI OUT > Sony HT HDMI IN
Sony HT HDMI OUT > TV HDMI IN (which supports ARC)

Guys do you think the above setup will work and if not, what are other alternatives?

Await your comments

Re: The Home Theater thread

Update:

Since no comments from any members, I tried to fix myself as under:

I tried the way as pointed out by me in my above post, but it didn't work because Sony HT AV receiver not equipped with an HDMI IN port.

Again, did some YouTube searches and finally tried using an RCA cable connecting Red & white to Tata Play STB and then the other end of the cable to HT AV receiver and now everything working fine.

Good you were able to sort out the old Bose unit. Should work for a few more years. Less E-waste to dump.

I assume you mean the Sony HT-A9. It is a superb speaker system. Its not all that bulky. It annihilates pretty much any sound bar on sale, price no bar. Its that good. The only catch with it is the cost and you don't get a sub woofer with it. You need one. That takes the price further up and then you start to question the already questionable value of the whole system. If you don't want to deal with the clutter of a traditional system, this is your best bet, more than any sound bar on the market. Is an eyes closed purchase. The other plus point is that is it very much listenable even while playing music. With most sound bars, all the sound just comes from the center and the imaging feels forced from all the signal processing.

The update to the A9 is around the corner but I suspect thats going to cost even more. Still no sub woofer in the box.

Re: The Home Theater thread

Got Bose 600 yesterday, it was long pending after the new Sony TV purchase last year, saw the offer in soundscape website and called them directly. They even delivered it to me in less than 2 hours. I considered JBL 500 Pro but finally opted for Bose.

I have been using Bose Soundtouch 20 for more than 8 years, simply love it - that mainly pushed me to opt for Bose again.

Future Upgrade : Bose 500 (subwoofer) and Surround speakers, may be in another 3-6 months down the line.

Re: The Home Theater thread

Hello! I have a 43" LG LED TV that's good on display but aging on sound. I want to see if I can get a good pair of speakers/soundbar that I can use with the TV. I also have a Xbox one which I play on and off. Other than that, the input to the TV is from an Amazon fire stick.

My hall where the TV and Xbox are is big and doesn't have much insulation, but the seating for the TV is within 10 feet of the wall mount. The TV has a HDMI ARC, AUX ports and also an optical cable port (which I have never used in the 7 years I have owned the TV). So connection to the audio system will be via either of those

I am not looking to invest too much on the audio system right now, maybe 15K or less. I just need something which will make audio crystal clear, a decent subwoofer (built in or separate) for effects and also have good connectivity playthrough for music from my mobile via Bluetooth. I am not also looking for separate speakers in the back or sides.

I am looking for suggestions on which brand and model to buy. Would appreciate any guidance I can get! Thanks!

The Denon DHT316 is a great bar and fits all your needs.

Re: The Home Theater thread

There is the BOSE TV Bar, and it is amazing. Overseas it costs me just 5K, but in India it was 10K. See if it is available, as my neighbour just purchased seeing mine

A complete dark horse is the Honeywell Trueno U2000. I heard it when I bought my TV and was impressed by how balanced the sound was for something that cost under 10k. Upper mids and highs were a slightly splashy but vocals were clear and the sub was particularly punchy.
