But like I wrote earlier I do not have any personal experience in this.
Thanks for your reply.

Yes, splitter not working.

Still waiting before deciding a convertor, already I was checking with a couple of other sources to get some idea. Also written a couple of emails to Jio air fiber customer care if they can assist in this audio out problem.

Moreover, I have seen many YouTube reviews about HDMI extractor, Decoder, convertor etc. and not sure which one will work in my case and more confused.

My Samsung q60r doesn't have rca out and the Norge Audio amp doesn't have optical in. Checked for the options on Amazon for optical to rca converter and got one with good ratings 4 years back. Has been working great so far.

You can try any of the below products on Amazon:
1. https://amzn.in/d/j34k6zj
2. https://amzn.in/d/egniAQm

Thanks for your reply.

Checked the details of both the converters, but it is mentioned there that it is not compatible with 5.1 channel signals. I am looking for a solution to get 5.1 channels working, as I already have a Sony Blu-ray Disc/DVD with 5.1 speakers (I was already getting 2.1 sound in the present set up).

Got it, my bad.

There are optical to 5.1 sound converters on Amazon, but I don't have any personal experience with them.

Yes, I too have seen some YouTube reviews but still not sure whether it will work without audio out from STB.

Meanwhile, I have been in discussion with Jio Air fiber guys who asked me to send a snapshot of the STB, which I did an hour ago. Now waiting for their response (I have asked them to give me a previous model STB which comes with Audio out (optical) port).

Re: The Home Theater thread

I have a budget of around 60k INR. I am considering Sonos beam 2, Bose Smart Soundbar 600 and pair of HomePod 2 paired. Can any one give their impression of how each system will sound? I will use them as TV audio out through an Apple TV 4K. I currently use a pair of HomePod minis in stereo with Apple TV 4K. My living room is not very large 16 x 10 ft. The TV sits at one end of the 16ft side.

The issues I see with Sonos and Bose is there are no service centres in Pune.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Re: The Home Theater thread

Jio Air fiber STB problem in connecting 5.1 Channel Home Theater

As said in my last post (3890), I have been continuously pushing Jio fiber customer care to get some solution to my problem, finally got reply from them:

++

The Jio STB is set on auto mode and passes the sound quality as it is from the Service Provider/OTT to the TV via HDMI.

You need to have Dolby Atmos compatible devices (TV, Soundbar, Home Theatre), the devices should be connected to Jio STB via HDMI. Dolby Atmos does not require any additional functionality or settings.

Connectivity has to be as follows:

1. Jio STB » Home Theatre » TV

2. Jio STB » Soundbar » TV

3. Jio STB » Dolby Supported TV

+++

My TV or Home theater does not have the Dolby Atmos feature, it is now sure that I cannot connect Jio fiber STB to my existing systems, unless I buy a new TV/Home theater.

It is too late now, as I should have checked this requirement prior to finalizing with Jio.

I now understand that Jio has introduced a new system called JIO TV OS with a new model STB, but not sure, if it is ready for release to customers or not.

Anyone heard about this new system from Jio?

Bose has stopped working again and we have decided not to repair it again and we will be purchasing a new home theatre soundbar during the Festive sale of Amazon/Flipkart.
Options are
1. JBL Bar 9.1, should be priced less than 50k
2. LG S95qr, again should be priced around 50k
3. Sony HT-S2000 with sub and surround for about 65-70k.
4. Samsung Q990d, but I don't think it would be priced anywhere near the above mentioned prices.

Any other recommendations?

Also is the Sony system worth the extra premium?

We don't want a system to sound very top bass heavy. System should have settings so that it can be tweaked to our liking.

Please suggest.

Last year I got the q990c (the top model then) for 84k at reliance retail when online it was 96k with all the discounts.
The 990b was available too at around 60ish. You may want to try your luck with any store having the q990c. Avoid 990b as it has known issues with disconnections.
The sound is very movie viewing oriented.

There must be one or two small parts which got conked off rendering rest of the working parts of the soundbar useless. Downside of having such all in one systems, similar like mobile phones where a battery worth couple of thousand rupees renders rest of the mobile phone with working components dead and companies as policy stop providing genuine replacement batteries after short period of time to favor their business interests.

Why don't you consider a pure component system instead? You will be having far cleaner and purer sound even using a dedicated stereo setup. Later you can expand it if you feel the need. Get an 5.1 or Atmos AVR and get a decent pair of passive stereo speaker set from Q-Acoustics, Elac, Dali, Wharfedale, Castle, KEF etc.

These speakers will last forever with sound getting better everyday you play them. Only part of the system which can go bad is AVR/AMP which also has far greater life span and far more probability of repairing.

I know many people argue about not having space but common, a speaker pair coupled with an AVR/amp also not going to throw you our of your house, it also need just similar space as those boomy sounding soundbars causing headache after prolonged listening sessions.

I have many speakers, DIY and branded. Last one bought were Boston Acoustics A26 in 2014. My car has 13 years old Infinity reference and Kicker component sets which have seen so much abuse, recently even water went inside the doors when my car ended up in flooded situation at a parking spot, but they are still sounding same as they sounded during the initial days. In the mean time I changed headunits, amps and what not, but speakers just keep going.

I will take those speakers out of my car whenever the govt will snatch it from me to forcefully scrap it.

Speakers should be investment, not an expense.

While it is a good idea to go with what you have suggested, this system will be used by parents so we prefer a simple plug and play system.

Re: The Home Theater thread

I have been thinking of creating a home theatre space in our upper living area and was researching for the best projectors in the market for nearly a year now.

After so much research and comparison, I have decided to go with the best.

Formovie Theatre UST (Ultra Short Throw) project that throws the image from as close as 6"-12" from the wall.

It's 4K and has Bowers & Wilkins in-built sound system.

Formovie Theatre has been awarded the "Best UST 4K projector" consecutively from last 3-years.

For now, I am experimenting with image projecting on the wall and it's pretty good but, I have to buy an ALR (Ambient Light Rejecting) screen which I plan to get in next few weeks as I need to start researching which one to go for.

So, I bought bar 9.1 for 47k during the sale.
I am not satisfied with the sound coming from the TV when connected via HDMI ARC. When I play a song via Bluetooth from my phone (YT music) it sounds amazing. However same song when played from TV on YouTube sounds slightly hollow and needs more treble.
Basically whatever sound is coming from TV needs more Treble to our liking. Is there a way to increase the Treble?
I have tried calibration, it does not work, tried factory reset still sounds same. Even changed the HDMI cable, still the same. Am I missing out on something? If I turn off smart EQ off, it sounds slightly better but every time the system restarts have to do it again.
I Feel I am missing out on something hence decided to check because it sounds amazing over BT but not so much when connected via HDMI ARC. This bar 9.1 is connected to 55 inch LG OLED C9 from 2020.

Hey Congrats on the purchase, Mine is a sony TV & I have enabled Audio Passthrough. I'm sure LG should have something similar

I use Apple TV which is connected to the soundbar HDMI Input and Arc does the rest. Only when I'm watching a uncompressed DTS Audio movies through HDD I use the TV else everything is through the Apple TV BOX via Soundbar

Keep the Atmos settings at High & Bass at 2 and use it for few days.

Just remember this soundbar truly comes to life when you play Atmos or DTS audio. If you have Netflix premium subscription you can try " 6 Underground " , the opening 10 minutes will show you what the soundbar is capable of.

Also for Music I use my phone via BT or Apple Music through the Apple TV and honestly haven't felt any difference as both use lossless Audio.

Also give it a few days to settle , I still believe speakers need 80-100 hours of run-in period

I have Tata Play as parents still use it.
Here is what I have currently
From TV's HDMI arc to JBL's HDMI arc
From TATA Play's HDMI port to TV's HDMI port.
Is this correct? or Should I connect TATA play's wire to 2nd port of JBL?
I will switch to Passthrough and see, currently its set on Auto.
