Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

A quick update. I had initially not paid much attention to Glyph interface and considered it just a gimmick. Last time I had bought something for lights was a pair of shoes and it was disastrous.

Friday was unexpectedly busy with meetings till late and then hanging out with friends. The Glyph actually serves a use case. More than once I ended up just flipping down my phone to cut out the distractions. Pretty subtle to cut down the screen time.

I liked the thought process. This is a feature I didn't think I needed.

Hi, you may be right about that but for someone who is 75+, convenience of not carrying that extra pair of earphones and physically switching over every time over the quality of music may just be the difference.

Cheers

Sure. I don't really listen to portable music, but I can see your point. Any music, as long as it is bearable, is better than none, and we do not want to be juggling, especially with these expensive devices.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Team, I purchased a Moto G82 few weeks back. I prefer to use the phone without a case, but the back being slippery, are there any grippy skins available to be applied to back cover?
I checked DBrand, but it has skins for iPhone and Galaxy only.

You can search on gadgetshieldz.com. I have been using their skins since few years.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Finally I got a Pixel 6 and I can say it's an amazing phone. I was waiting for Pixel 6a and after checking the price, even with offers and discounts, it was turning to be expensive than Pixel 6.

Pixel 6 is much more premium spec wise, especially the camera. I wanted a great camera phone, and after comparing a few brands, Pixel 6 turned out to be on top. Plus the stock android experience is icing on the cake. Also I get 3 years software & 5 years security updates.

Only drawback is no warranty or support, but I can live with it, provided I take care of the Pixel 6 at least physical handling.

Here are some sample pics from its brilliant camera. I like low light photography.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Hi BHPians,
I"m looking to buy mid range smartphone. Have zoomed in on POCO M4 Pro 5G which is under 15k. I just need to browse, watch youtube videos and cast these videos to my TV, etc and playing small games. Have anybody purchased or is it good enough to buy for the tasks?

Thanks,
Ramki

The Poco M4 Pro 5G is a great option under Rs.15,000 for your usage scenario, my friend has one and I have used it and it seems good for everyday use. The display, although an LCD is great. It has excellent battery life and fast charging too. Its stereo speakers are loud enough as well. It offers good photo and video quality too.

The other alternatives you could consider are the iQOO Z6 5G, the Samsung F23 5G, Samsung M33 5G and the Realme 9 5G. Consider these during the offer periods when they are discounted or if you have Credit cards which provide discounts for these mobiles.

Re: Android Thread: Phones / Apps / Mods

Any Note 10 plus users around? I have been using it for past 2 years and completely satisfied with the performance in terms of speed and reliability. Also Samsung provides monthly security updates for the phone, so its sorted that ways too. 12GB of RAM ensures a smooth memory management too.

I was keen on upgrading to S22 Ultra, but didn't as there was no considerable change other than better cameras (I am satisfied with the cameras on Note 10 plus) and screen refresh rates, which doesn't bother me much.

If anyone else is using the same phone and do let me know how it is treating you being a 2019 flagship.

Look out for sales if not in hurry and you could get the Poco X4 Pro 5G for lower prices. I got the Poco X4 Pro from Flipkart for ~Rs.16,200 using Flipkart Axis Bank Card (17K after Instant Discounts and reduced to ~16.2K after 5% unlimited cashback on Flipkart Card)

Let’s put a stop to this by not watching such illegal and dangerous behaviour by these VLoggers.

Don’t let these people use our forum to gain views please.

Note: I have been over smart and replaced the actual link details. Go Figure 😂
Use YouTube Vanced if you're on Android and an Ad Block extension if you're on PC. You can avoid those pesky ads, hence cutting off ad revenue for YouTube channels you wish not to fund.

Youtube Vanced is no longer being distributed. Speculation was that a Google C&D did the trick.

This article is from March. It's August now and Vanced still works flawlessly for me. They shot themselves in the foot when they tried to monetize themselves by releasing an NFT. That put them in the spotlight which in turn resulted in the developer being sued and Vanced being discontinued. I believe there is another community of modders who are now trying to take over the project and keep it going.

Existing installations will continue to work for another 2 years as I understand it, but distribution is stopped - so someone who wants to install it fresh cannot. Take a look at its website: https://vancedapp.com

(I have kept personal copies of the 4 APK files, so I'm safe for these 2 years while an alternative emerges).
