Havnt had any problems till date. Just check the phone on the spot thoroughly. If its working fine, its good. Check things like Wifi, Bluetooth, camera, play a video, make a phone call (check if both sides can hear properly), etc.
On a positive note, grey versions come with a 16GB memory card as well

Finally, after buying, just upgrade the OS.

Any idea when it is going to be launched in india ?
Thats right. It is the unlocked AT&T version. No idea about the official launch in India or the prices.

Thanks for the suggestion buddy, I'll do just that. Still in 2 minds, the curve 3g on ebay comes with a 18 month redington service warranty and is OS 6 ready for rs.18,300.

The grey Storm2 is Rs. 20400 with one month vendor warranty!

@raamki,

I beg to differ on 9300...

Please see: BlackBerry - BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry Pearl, BlackBerry Bold, 8700, 7700, 7520, 7200, 7130, 7100 Seris

The front page hosts 9300 curve 3g. And yes, its available in stores with Redington 18 months warranty from last 3 weeks.

BB curve 9300 aka curve 3g is listed on airtel website as well for 19k.

I kind of like this phone but i am certainly confused between 9300 vs E72.

9300: 3G / 624mhz / 256mb / 2mp / 18k (approx)
E72 : 3G / 600mhz / 128mb / 5mp / 15k (approx)

Has anyone here used Nokia E series & BB ? How do you rate BB qwerty vs Eseries qwerty ?
Phone will be used for sending / receiving e-mails, GPS, listening music.

I was a VERY loyal Nokia user till June 2010. I consistently resisted the urge to get a BlackBerry since the last 4+ years. This was primarily because I felt that the BB OS was very text heavy and un-friendly.

However, my perception changed completely since I got 8520.

When it comes to a no-nonsense, reliable business smartphone - nothing beats a BlackBerry. Its got powerful multi tasking capabilities, VERY VERY smart and powerful email service and generally a business like feel to it.

The only downside is the battery life.

I'd any day recommend a BB 9300 over Nokia E72, if you are a business user. But if you have heavy usage of the camera/music player/FM etc, you may look towards E72.

Thanks a ton buddy for this nice and crisp overview. Rewind my life couple of years and i would certainly be a heavy user of cam/music/fm etc. At present, i need always ON access to my work e-mail, personal e-mails, social networking stuff, App world (as lot if indian sites have started BB apps) & i should be able to multi-task. Sounds like BB.

I dont want to buy online, so where can you get in bangalore ? I saw a BB signboard on a shop on brigade road, Mcdonalds side.

Nishant / anyone using BB - can you guys share your GPS experience here. I am planning a BB but wanted to know how does the GPS performs. The reason is that once i buy bb, i will be also buying a car kit to hold the phone & will be using GPS often. Like very often.

How are BB maps as compared to OVI ? Reliable when going out of town ? coverage ? charges ?
What hardware RIM uses for GPS ?
Edit: Does it offer turn by turn directions (voice guided)

I discovered a problem with the way the BB saves n recalls numbers. For eg every mob has 10 numbers eg,9847012345. I have quite a few entries with similar numbers (last 7) eg 9947012345, 9647012345. My phone shows only one name ( the first one alphabetically) I can assign speed dials etc, but can't know who's calling.
Anyone experienced this? How can this be sorted.

This is a feature with all phones and is not restricted to blackberries.

Hi BB does not have native maps for india. So the BBmaps app is useless as of now. (Apparently they are working on it) so you have to use a third party application for the job. Eg google maps.

Secondly if you intend to use gps that much suggest you get a gps unit for the car itself. Or look at one of our t-bhpians car pc options :-D from the diy section.

However even without gps (like my 8520) it is accurate down to 50m in city and 200m while travelling with location assist.

My iPhone didnt have that problem. and two nokia's that belong to my friends are also '10 digit' recognizers, and I think that my older 8800 BB was fine on the older firmware.

I wish the manufacturers would look into such a silly yet important issue.
