Apart from outdated / problematic handsets being sold through these offers, the bigger catch is the fact that there is no official RIM warranty. If you see the fine print, it says 6 months seller warranty only. Same is the case for handsets sold via discount deals sites such as Fashion and You.

Stay away.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Any idea/info on when the new BB Storm 3 touch screen mobile is to be launched. The specs seem impressive and looks like RIM has done away with the SurePress thing as well. If this doesn't seem to happen in the near future, I would like to go in for the new BB Torch. Any suggestions/feedback ?

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

A stupid question to start with -
If I sell my BB to another person (not on the same network as mine), would the PIN still remain the same? Also, if I change my service provider, does the BB need to be setup again? BBM/Mailboxes/FB/Twitter etc.

The 9900 is due soon. I think its worth waiting for that. It will be like a normal candybar phone but with a capacitive touch screen.

Yes the PIN stays with the device and does not change.

If you change your service provider you need to set up your mailboxes again. And probably log into FB,Twitter again.

I have the Torch .The specs look poor if you compare with other phones which are cheaper to buy .

You could wait for the Torch 2 which should be available in a few months

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Does anyone has an idea when is the new bb models launch is going to happen as i want to upgrade from curve and the 2011 bb lineup looks promising.
Any idea?

On a side note i fiddled with torch and 9780 for sometime and imo 9780 is a much better phone than torch.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Could anyone please suggest me which from the option available which one to go for:-

Pearl 9100
Curve 8900 javelin (is it still available with RIM warranty)
Curve 9300
Curve 8520?

I would be selling my Nokia 5120 and Samsung G3 with android 2.2 for 9.5k
I wont be looking forward to invest additional money of more than 4k.
hence budget is 12-13k
any recommendations other than the above ?
Dont want touch screen.
And Network service is Loop Prepaid mostly looking forward to get the 199rs BB service.

Jatin,

Out of the list you have shortlisted I would advice you to go ahead with 9300.

8520 : 2G, bad built quality compared to rest.
Pearl : non qwerty keypad. If it suits u, its good.
8900 : phone has been discontinued by RIM AFAIK.

If 9300 suits your need and budget, its the best buy of the lot.

Jatin, out of the lot shortlisted, I would go for the 9300. The remaining ones have issues, as stated by Harshal.

Also, if the budget is roughly 12-13K, then why not have a look at the Bold 9000. AFAIK, the price for that has been dropped to 11k or something.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

@Swanand

Is Bold 9000 still available ?
Cause when i enquired at BB dealer he said its out of production.

If its still available I would be glad to buy it as it suits my requirement perfectly.

And is it worth buying used BB
got an offer of 12k for one month used Bold 2 but accessories were not there and RIM warranty is still on it.

Bold 9780 is the best phone as of now.
Bold 9900 is due for launch in 1 or 2 Month.

Jatin,

12K for Bold 2 is a good deal. With B&W. Bold 9000 is discontinued. For 12K Bold 2 or Curve 9300 are your best options.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

How about the new Blackberry Pad that will be out soon. Does anybody have a review on it, or is it being launched worldwide the same day?
