Just take the phone to any authorized BB store and they can get it unlocked for you.

Yes you need to download Google maps or even Waze. Go to maps dot google dot com or m dot waze dot com on your handset to download it.

Regarding the plans, most of the service providers have an unlimited usage plan (priced at 699 or 899). Get one of those, and you dont need to worry about data used.

Prepaid plans for most service providers are 399 per month for unlimited data usage. TataDocomo has an unlimited postpaid plan for 399 too.

I spoke with Local dealer today. He told that company has stopped the supply of Bold 2 but dealers who have stock are selling it.

BTW he quoted me prices of Rs. 22,xxx for Bold 3.

Got similar quote from one dealer here. 22,400 for Bold 3 and 21,xxx for Bold 2. For 1k less i dont see a point going for Bold 2.

If you want without bill then you can get it for much less. Last I inquired Bold2 was retailing for 17-18k(without bill) and 21k with bill at Alpha in Vile Parle.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

The only drawbacks an 8520 has is that it doesnt have a flash, not 3G capable & a lower resolution screen.
On the other hand, the drawback of a 8900 is that it has a trackball & not the trackpad.

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

I prefer trackball than trackpad.

Is 8900 still available?
I am on Loop network hence 3G is useless thing for me as Loop does not support 3G and seeing the current 2G scam loop is under i doubt wether it will get 3G or not.

What would fit perfectly in my 10-11k budget ? Upgrading from a Android 2.2 phone as I really need BBM messenger and push mail services are not that great on androids.
Phone can also be arranged from singapore as one of my friend is flyin to singa in coming weeks.
Also if Bought from singa then would international warranty available? will it be locked or something?

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

Hi friends,
I have been using BB Storm2 9520 since last one year. Since day one, am not comfortable with the touch screen key board as unable do fast typing (my main usage is for recieving/sending email messages). Now the battery power also came down to max 24 hours (only with some email messages recieving and few outgoing messages- No browsing at all).

I am now considering to buy new device - How about Torch 9800?? or any other better model from BB.

Alternatively, can I go for any Samsung handset (Galaxy S or ..)?. Will Samsung handset support Pushmail feature also the BB activated sim card will work on such device??

Re: Blackberry Phones and Services in India

I think the 8520 is phased out. I've noticed no new advertisements for that model since the last 1 month+. Now all retailers seem to be pushing 9300 as the starting model.
