Congrats! this is probably the coolest camera for non-pro photographers.

Pro photographers will stick to Canon/Nikon for a pretty long time. Check this review from a pro: http://www.canonwatch.com/off-brand-...a-of-the-year/

Re: Mirrorless or EVIL Cameras

Thanks Samurai. But the article has been answered quite a bit. And its unfair to compare a mirrorless with a brick heavy canon dslr's. I know many pro's who have started adding the Sony to their Kit.

I am not a pro and neither was planning to spend that much. This deal is sick, probably someone who got has a gift wanted to make some quick cash. Worked out for me.

I am going to use this till the A7SII is out and may swap for the A7s II. Just heading out as we speak. The time 1250AM is RIPE now

Re: Mirrorless or EVIL Cameras

Few samples. Exif should be there. 1/6 is definitely manageable with the IBIS. 35mmF1.4 and 75mm SUmmilux used.

Damn, 40MP images! Exif is not there. What is the ISO value, the pics are noisy at full size view.

O.T. - EXIF retention should be implemented..

Could you give details on where, how and at what price you got this camera for? Pls PM me if you don't wish to make the details public.

Re: Mirrorless or EVIL Cameras

It was a local deal picked up from someone through craigsliat. Not like a store deal. Someone got it as a gift and sold it at a rate that used camera would go after a year or two

Re: Mirrorless or EVIL Cameras

A7rII put to the test. Or atleast a day out with the A7rII.

Few pictures using the 35mm and 50mm 0.95. The carousel and night pictures are from the 0.95 while those on the apple orchard is from the 35mm.

I just sold my zeiss 135 and mostly be using the funds to either test a A7s or get the 90mm macro.

There are few lenses planned later this year by Sony including a super fast 85mm F1.4 (Which is the target) and a wider AF lens from Sony.

I am not sure if need anything wider than 35 at this point but if i need i will try the cheaper 28mm which is again a stonker of a lens

Re: Mirrorless or EVIL Cameras

I know that the popular photographer Jason Lanier moved on to Sony A7RII (away from whatever big cameras he was using).
He was particularly excited about the low noise on high ISO (cannot remember how high).

Re: Mirrorless or EVIL Cameras

Can say the file size is getting painful for storage. Have to clearly understand when you need raw and when u dont.

For example the last shoot took around 400 pictures taking up 17-19 GB of space

I am even contemplating swapping this for the A7sII. I love 12MP sensors

400 pictures is a lot. I think the tendency to shoot many and then delete most is what affects us. We don't need to pay for the film anymore.
You can get good deals on 32GB (or even bigger cards). So, this becomes a non issue if it is just photos. With videos, you will run out much faster.

Edit: I am shooting in RAW + JPEG. Currently exploring LightRoom 6. It is intelligent enough to show me just the RAW files. Additionally if I delete a photo in LR, it will delete both RAW and the JPEG.
From the remaining photos, I would like to get rid of all the JPEGs and just keep the RAW files. Can I do that from LR?

Re: Mirrorless or EVIL Cameras

https://light.co/ - This looks like it is a mirrorless camera, but I like the concept. Once again proving that Software is to rule the technology!

Actually this has more hardware in it as well. Its not just software. Great concept but selling at 1500 is ridiculous for HDR style photo.

One of the low light examples shows so much noise and you may be able to shoot the same scene with a D810 and post process for better picture.

Waiting to see how the output is shaping up and the cost factor is huge. Not sure if i am ready to pay 1500$ for this.

I came here just to post about this.

It is a fantastic concept and at $1299 it is not too bad.

If Apple were to make this, it would fly off the shelves.

Also interesting to see there are many Indians in the executive team including the founder.
