Dippy,

Did you manage to see the front of the car, that morning?Does it look like the orange one above? I seriously think the present face of Palio is much better.!!

Thanks

I dont think the history of expensive Fiat spares will shed off that easily.

P.S.: This a general perception of Fiat and some of Fiat customers might not face any problems. But some might also face problems since Day 1!!!
Even Ford has the same image all over the world. Mercedes C-class has huge problems. Why do you start a unncessary FIAT bashing here? Have you ever owned a Palio? What do you know about FIAT engines?

Though I have never owned a Palio, i really like that car (only for its build, spec and styling), but my past experience has made me make a stern decision - NEVER TO BUY A FIAT!!!

We (my father bought it) had a UNO some time back. Bought it secondhand, red colour. The car was 18 months old when it reached us and 2 months later it all started. We must have changed about 40 percent of the engine + other problems, over the course of 2 years. We bought it for 2.5 lacs and spend about 60-70 k on it. Since the car was giving many problems, we were tryin to sell it on after 10month of getting it. I would say no one even comes near it. We tried so many ways to sell it (numerous dealers over one and half years), advertised in newspapers but all we got was 3 enquiry calls, that too from second hand car dealers. We finally sold it to some dealer in punjab (who apparently wanted to convert it to a diesel as it would sell easily in Punjab) for Rs.88000/- . Can you believe it? We made a loss of 222,000 in 2 years on the first second hand car we bought.

Since then my father and me decided NEVER TO BUY A FIAT and moreover NEVER TO BUY A RED CAR, or NEVER TO BUY A SECOND HAND CAR. I know it may sound a bit extreme but i had never liked red colour in cars.....(unless F430,ENZO)....indian cars. And the feel to own a new car cant be defeated.

Now I am in London and when I came here,I realised that the way people perceive FIAT over the world (Believe me FORD, Merc C180 are miles ahead of FIAT), i should have know better while buying the UNO.Thats not the end of it. My friend over here owns a Punto. And his car gives him endless troubles as well. He also owns a Mondeo which has never even asked for service. He just drives the Mondeo and the Punto is left offstreet.

So now you probably know, where i was coming from.

Thanx

Goof up and troubles are part of the every car makers.
Take for example..Ford Escort. There are thousands people are there to say I never buy a Ford again. Similarly Maruthi 1000, Opel Astra. What is the resale value of Ford Escort and Maruthi 1000? But when a thread comes up with a news of face lifted Palio why do you want to insert a irrelevant FIAT bashing. I own a Palio, I can swear its one among the best engines available in India. Bad day can come for any vehicle and any engine. I know my friend suffering with some unknown problems with his Zen's engine. I have friend who says his esteem gives just 11 in city. There is person with Sumo which gives just 7 kmpl (a thread exist on this in tbhp). First set of Indica are bad as anything. My uncle says he spend something around 2.5 lacs in service for his Indica. My in-laws own a Indigo and FIAT 118. The prefer to travel in 118 when it is in running condition. Sadly it lives in mechanics garage most of the time. But this doesn't amount to start a bashing thread here.

Hey prkothan,

I didnt mean to start a Fiat bashing thread, honestly. I totally agree what you are saying and what i said initially was just a opinion of what the perception of Fiat. I agree that all cars have their days, but believe me more percentage of Fiats have bad days (probably) than the percentage of maruti 1000. and Fiat being a world class manufacturer should shed this image off.

But I really dint mean to start an anti-fiat thread in a face lift palio thread.. i know i should have discussed it somewhre else.

I havent got anythinng against Palio, I like it (might have bought it if it was from Ford, Honda, Toyota etc). But what I said was just an opinion. hope you understand where i am coming from...

well whoever has a problem with fiat please remember that they own and run three biggest premium car companies namely

maserati
ferrari and
Alfa Romeo

Neither GM,Ford,CHrysler,Honda,Toyota,Nissan can do achieve such feat.

ferrari and maserati are actually where fiat lost much of its money.
Acquiring them first and then resurrecting them properly

Proton of malaysia had the same problem after buying Lotus Cars UK and Mvagusta bikes.

They sold of MVagusta stock for a meagre 1Euro . such great bikes like F4 and going on sale for 1Euro?

theme of the story- Fiat may have goofed up in India but overall they are pretty good company with a great product line-up

Hello guys...

Sadly, words like "fix it..." are running in the world thanks to the US. The Fiat cars from the late 70's and the 80's like the Ritmo/Strada, 131, 132, Argenta, etc were models with number of electric problems.

But in our days, products like the Palio, Punto, Stilo had a good overall reputation at different markets. The new Grande Punto is already the best selling car in Europe, and the Palio is one of the top 3 cars in the southamerican rankings since 96.

Chile is a small but important market, because we have almost every make in the world. The "kings" are the asian brands, but models like the GM Corsa and Fiat Palio have managed to get the tops, thanks to a combination of nice ratio between price-quality and equipment.

Now... about the topic... that facelift is a hit in southamerica and eastern europe. The interiors are really improved, and i hope you guys to get this new interior, because the current indian Palio is a mixed... exterior design of the Mk.II model and the interior of the Mk.I.

This is and example of the Brazilian range of the Palio.

Finally... this is my car, an Mk.III Palio 1.2 16v Fire (82HP)

Hey Roadrally.

What are the differences between M1 and Mk2 in the interior. I thought it was exterior only.

We might end up getting Mk3 ext with the same old interiors.

The front rear and rear treatment of the car really gives it a much mature / grown up look to the car. But none of the cars shown above feature the rear spoiler which again bossts the looks for the cars specially the palio..The 1.2 version looks kinda dull wheras the 1.6GTX rocks.
