Thanks Ajmat for sharing this link. Such news feel us proud of our own cities and country.

The queues outside the washrooms will be the WORST situation for any person. One shall stand in queue once he / she feels to go to such washrooms atleast 20-30 mins in advance.

Cheers!

The venue for the Auto Expo will be India ExpoMart, Greater Noida. The venue will just be displaying the Vehicles, Component show will still be organized at Pragati Maidan.

The dates for the Motor Show are 7 - 11 February 2014.

Splitting the event into 2 distant venues may split the traffic and crowds, but in general it is a bad idea. Most of the serious visitors who visit one expo will want to visit the other one as well. They should have kept everything in the same location for better footfall. On the brighter side, the 'aam junta' will not bother going to Pragati Maidan now at all, since there will be no fancy machines or models to stand and click pictures with!

Thumbs down to this idea. Splitting the venue in two is absurd. People have different tastes, even if they come in a single group or like a family. Some are interested in just the display vehicles, some like the real meat inside.

Also, in my opinion, the venue should be changed every year, but only to the cities which can cater to the crowd and has the infrastructure to deal with it. This will bring more cities on the map, income to the state, better infrastructure, etc.

As per my information, the expo will be held in Noida. Near Sector 125 which is at the Delhi-Noida Border.

I think it should be held every year instead of the biennial event that it currently is considering the Indian auto industry is way bigger than it used to be.Also, that way it could alternate between cities every year
It could alternate between Delhi and maybe Bangalore or Chennai each year.

@kartikk @saket77: Component and Motor shows have different set of audiences.
While component show is strictly B2B, Motor show is more on the B2C side.

Families, if visit, are keen to see the vehicles and not the components.

The growing number of exhibitors made the Organizers to split the show in 2 different venues, this might also help improving crowd management.

Taj Expressway has given a chance to People from Agra and other cities to visit the show, as Agra is just 2 hours drive from the new Motor show venue.

@shivs 20003: Its India ExpoMart, Greater Noida

@adson @Maurauder: there will be various regional shows SIAM will organize in various cities across India.

re: The Mega Auto Expo 2014 Thread: General Discussion, Live Feed & Pics

Global automakers buy all the available space for the 12th Delhi Auto Expo.

The heavy rush of auto companies has prompted the organisers to move the 28-year-old show out of New Delhi's Pragati Maidan to a new much larger and fully air-conditioned venue at Greater Noida in Uttar Pradesh.

SUVs are expected to be launched at the fair including Chrysler's Jeep, Honda's all-new urban SUV and Maruti Suzuki's Alpha X, based on the Swift platform.

The five-day mega motoring event, scheduled to start on February 5 next year, is already sold out to 40 automakers including some significant first-timers including Chrysler, Isuzu motors and Hyosung.

America's third largest carmaker Chrysler will showcase its iconic Jeep and Wrangler badges while Chinese SUV specialist Great Wall Motors will debut Haval H5 along with its hatchbacks and sedans. Japanese carmakers that account for more than 60% of car sales in India can look to improve that number with at least two new entrants — Isuzu Motors and Datsun, Nissan's revived low-cost brand.

Good move! They must certainly up the game in terms of venue quality, amenities, public comfort and parking etc.
We really badly need to upgrade all our public fair facilities the way that China has steadily been doing these last ten years or so!

Its time for the ITPO (who manages Pragati Maidan) to wake up. If marquee crowd pullers like Auto Expo go out of their fold, they would start to resemble rest of limp government departments dependent on govt dole for survival.

re: The Mega Auto Expo 2014 Thread: General Discussion, Live Feed & Pics

Let me give a different perspective.

The Auto Expo has always been a major event for component manufacturers and equipment manufacturers and importers to showcase their wares to car dealers, tyre dealers and other OEM officials.

Now, with the splitting of the car/accessory part and the components, the component and equipment guys will just skip the event.

If you look at the industry as a whole, this is not good news at all. Also, even for the car manufacturers, how many people will actually travel to Greater Noida? One of the major advantages for car companies was that Pragati Maidan was easily accessible and the common man would come and be made aware of various brands. The yellow Camaro was one of the biggest hits of the previous Auto Expo and GM's brand really benefitted. Now, with the number of casual visitors dropping, the car manufacturers cannot use this event as a brand building exercise.

Travelling to Greater Noida is easy IMO , as long as you have your own vehicle. The organisers should arrange buses transporting people between Pragati Maidan and IndiaExpo , and the same between the venue and the nearest metro station(Similar to the services provided for F1 Indian GP) .

This would be the second major event being shifted to IndiaExpo,Greater Noida from Pragati Maidan after the 6th India renewable energy expo.

Shifting Auto Expo from Pragati Maidan to Noida is not a solution for the mess the organisers faced during last event. This may act as a temporary solution but things will turn soar soon.

It was the fault of people who managed the event in 2012 and not of Pragati Maidan or it's close proximity with Delhi Metro.

They should first keep a check on the number of special invitation/VIP passes they issue so that the event can at least begin in a fine manner. Last time most of the mess was in fact on the media day.
