But the Conti was a seller, used to see a lot of them on the highways after the amby.

I guess only Trekker was the flop car from HM stables...

Well it looks impressive. Dont know why it is not selling? May be it will take time to establish itself.
I think Tata has tried to improve the Sumo from the taxi image. I have spotted only a few Sumo Grande s on road. One of my friend who took a test drive was complaining about the cheap plastic interiors.

I have seen a few Grande on b'lore roads lately. Looks like the delay in hitting the roads was caused by the delay in launching the cheaper variants - when they launched, they had only the top-end version on sale, and I think it continued for a month or so.

When seen on the roads, though it looks impressive from the front, the rear is a let down; it just doesn't go with the 'macho' image the front portrays.

[quote=architect;879180]If sales is the criterion, then I would like to ask if these cars are FLOPs in your opinion:

1. Petrol Innova (same 1.8 l VVTi engine as Corolla, wasn't it?)

Regarding Petrol Innova's they had a 2.0L petrol vvti engine. and were surlley a flop
UNTIL
recently abou 3-4 months ago, a new taxi service in MUmbai, Star Taxi has appeard, they seem to have very big fleet of these Petrol Innovas, but i feel they are converted to CNG but stil sport a 2.0G badge at the back. SO suddenly a lot of petrol innovas are popping up on Mumbai roads.

Those innovas dont look used, they look brand new, maybe toyota offered a good deal to that taxi comapny to clear old stock off. These are pre-facelift models.

What about the Chevorlet Forester? I have n't seen many. I think it looked better than the Tavera. And the spark? it is a great car but have not seen as many as I would like to have seen. Then comes the Daewoo Nubira and Nexia.

Even the volvo cars and the nissan ones are not seen too much in the market.
The Hyundai Terracan also flopped badly

In my list the flop cars are:
1. Peugeot 309 in the mid-1990's
2. Daewoo Matiz
2. Fiat cars like Siena, Petra, Adventure, Uno

PS: Has anybody mentioned Peugeot 309 here before?

can we include going to be flop cars in this list

but in case of full loaded to the brim car, opel Vectra was a real flop. the indian market wasnt ready for such a tech savy car.

to an extent mondeo too. atleast it sold some numbers. then there is the daewoo nexia!

The Maruti 1000 ! I have seen some, not many.

Then there was an Alto 1.1 liter special edition which was discontinued very soon.

Oh I love this thread!

I beg to differ, the ALTO1.1(or alto vxi) was not a flop by anymeans.
It was just withdrawn to make sure that wagonR sales zoom(period2001-2002)

alto Vxi which released initially had the wagon r engine i guess.
still it was not a flop many bought it. but the lxi with the 800 engine sold so much and was insuch huge demand that maruthi themselves had to focus entirely on the 800 engined alto
