Ford Endaveour, surprisingly no mention. Competitors sell much better.
Cedia, hardly see any though being so elegant.

Zen D is defnetely not a flop in south...atleast in AP i will call it a hit. The car was always sold at premium and even the resale price was very good. I believe Maruti made money on this car by it's sales in south and especially in AP.

When Maruti dropped this model due to revised pollution norms, there were many people rushing to the dealerships to get hold of the last few in stock.

One of the recent flops is Skoda Combi. So far i had seen only one car. Sales of Superb are on the raise.

I dont think so.
may be the competitors out-sell in few cities.

i was shocked when some one put the zen D in the flop cars, the zen DI is a very popular model here in Hyderabad.

Zen D was polpular here in the kerala too... No way you guys can call it a flop... The problem mainly was that Maruti couldnt meet the demand with the imported engine...

Superb was given a diesel only after mid 06... Thats why the sales figures are going up....

Flop cars in the market:
1) Chevy SRV
2) Sonata Embera
3) Cedia
4) Maruti Versa
5) San Storm

Previously, I can think of:
Sipani cars, Maruti Grand Vitara, Baleno Altura.

The Baleno sedan itself would have found a place here as a flop car, if not for the heavy price-cuts effected by MUL a few years ago, which made it a real VFM car and boosted sales. From a situation of "no one has one" in the years after its launch, it is today like "everyone has one".

I wouldn't say the biggest flop car considering they had sales equivalent to the Swift when launched. Its only after customer and magazine reviews that the car went out to be a flop.

there was this 'retro' variant of Zen, which was such a big flop that many of us here might not even remember it!

An auto magazine had posted a similar looking car from which the Classic was ripped off. There were no visible differences in both the models externally. I wonder why Maruti chose that car to clone.

That time Retro was in around the world. Hence, Maruti wanted to cash in on that, so now we can say that it was a Normal production "Limited" edition car...since its gone flop!!!!!

I think we need to keep different yardsticks for different cars.
Certain cars are decidedly niche-oriented, even the manufacturer does not expect to sell more than a few hundred a year!

For example, lets take the Chevy Forester and xTrail. Both of them are CBUs, even their manufacturers were purely experimenting with the market by launching these cars. So in that sense, I wouldnt really call them flops! To extend the movie analogy, think of them as Art films solely intended for Film festivals, awards and TV screenings. They shouldnt be compared to mass-market, economical offerings like Versa, Palio etc.
