Re: The "Low Mileage" Car Thread! How low is your running?

Our Santro Xing is about 8.5 years old now and has had a pretty non linear run so far. The first year it did just 3700 Kms. It was the first car in the family and hence was treated more as an object to be preserved. But soon the novelty wore off and by year 3 it had about 35000 kms on the clock. Not a lot of running in the 4th year and now has about 55000 Kms on odo. The engine still feels like new, I just love the torquey nature of the engine. It is just perfect for the city, though on highways it runs out of steam.

Santro Zing - May 2005 - May 2009 - 17K
Honda City IVtec - June 2009 - 17K
Basically my car usage is only for family and weekend purposes.
Use my 2-wheeler for daily commute to office as I cannot withstand punishing my 4-wheeled beauties thru' the daily grind of BLR traffic

Re: The "Low Mileage" Car Thread! How low is your running?

My BMW 525i has only done 19,000 km in four years. We live in bangalore, dad uses the car mainly but he just prefers to go in the innova while going out. Has a driver to take him everywhere. The car has only seen highway journeys to kerala from BLR which is around once or twice a year. And the odd city run when one of the others cars busy doing other work.

Still in mint condition, drove it yesterday from kerala and she is as crisp as ever. BMW people keep telling me to use it more frequently as I have had issues with the clock resetting every time i crank the car. Which i think basically means the battery is dying out.

Re: The "Low Mileage" Car Thread! How low is your running?

2004 Santro Xing XS with only 45000kms on the ODO. Used mostly within the City. The longest trip in a day was 120kms. Morever I prefer the bike within the city due to cumbersome nature of maneuverability of a 4 wheeler and most importantly due to lack of parking space everywhere!

Re: The "Low Mileage" Car Thread! How low is your running?

While my Car has done good kms (despite me using friend's Car when traveling or going for work (am always with someone having a bigger Car, hence...) & driving mine only when I am going somewhere) my bike this time hasn't seen much.

Bought on 18-10-'11 it has done some ~4,500kms. On the Motorcycles which I had earlier, It would be somewhere at 15,000kms.

Mate I think you have posted in the wrong thread!
moreover your post is not having the required details. No mention of the purchase dates or years covered!

Re: The "Low Mileage" Car Thread! How low is your running?

My Santro LS, bought in 2000 Dec is currently clocking little over 70000. And I switched to Civic in Feb 2012, and that is currently at 7500.

Last week I was thinking, how nice it will be if car manufacturers gave 'low usage service' option? For example 'once a year service' than 6 months/3 months frequency.

You can do that after the warranty is over anyway. Why want the manufacturer to give that option. Heck even daily use vehicles also don't need 6 months service. Yearly service is more than sufficient if you are clocking less than 15k kms a year. We have to just ensure that the engine oil is synthetic and the air filter is periodically cleaned. If the engine oil is mineral them change it once in 6 to 7k kms

Oh! I just read the thread title and went by that sorry : )

New Swift - April 11th 2013 - 225 Kms
Esteem - 1995 - 1,57,000 Kms
Maruti 800 - 1995/6 - 2,00,000 Kms

This thread is probably for low running but thought I'd list all of them : )

Re: The "Low Mileage" Car Thread! How low is your running?

Ahh. Nice thread - my father's Cedia has done about 16k in five or six years now. Funnily enough he is in NCR but travels for about 3 weeks in a month.

Be interesting to see how the car is regarded when he trades it in for a new car. We'll know in a couple of months I guess!

Hello Karthik_S,

Slightly OT, but, how has the Cedia fared in all these years? Considering the very low running coupled with spares issues, did she manage to hold up good all this while? Any major problems that you'll encountered due to infrequent usage?

Why this sudden query? As, I love the Cedia to bits!

Re: The "Low Mileage" Car Thread! How low is your running?

My first car was a Maruti Omni S.

As i had got a new job, i was not in the city for most of the time and the car was not used at all.

Car was bought in June 1995 and sold in May 2000 (shifted to a Santro). The car had clocked 5195 kms in the 60 months of ownership!!! (thats less than 100 kms a month!!!)

Re: The "Low Mileage" Car Thread! How low is your running?

2006 Xeta - Have run 56000 km in 7 years. Have hardly run 2000 km in the last 2 years. With mid-age crisis, I feel younger driving a bike now a days. It also obviously helps beating the traffic
