Yes this is the first replacement.

Part Charges:

1. Cover assy - Rs 1075.29
2. Bearing assy - Rs 3985.75
3. Dusc assy - Rs 5025.41
4. Seat Sub assy Shift - Rs 537.01
5. Bearing Bal 12.32.F - Rs 368.69

Flywheel Skimming Charges - Rs 349

Labour charges - Rs 1075.29

The balance is service tax and VAT

Tata Motors seems to have sharply increased prices of spare parts.

A few months back, the fuel Filter for the 1.3mjd was Rs.1,300/-, its now priced at Rs.2,000/- !

The Air Filter Assembly too was somewhere ~Rs.1,300/- IIRC, now its ~Rs.2,000/-.

This news is of serious concern for :

1) Prospective Tata car buyers : Do choose AMC if you feel its worth for the usage. If you don't happen use the cars extensively, the servicing costs & spare parts are not going to be as economical as before.

Additionally consider the fact that many passionate veteran members here have found T.A.S.S. experience, "sub-par" at best, if not dis-satisfactory and at times, almost cheatful.

2) FIAT owners who get their cars serviced privately : Some of Maruti's parts may not match since they themselves assemble the engine under license from FIAT.

IMO its the age old trick to make things expensive so customers feel the quality is better, also business generates better returns if sales are restricted to a niche' market.

Diesel fuel filter on the Toyota etios costs just 900 INR and it lasted for 72,000 kms for me ( instead of the 20,000 kms replacement that we see with other brands )

Thats coz, his highness - Toyota, uses the fuel filter from Denso, which lasts a lifetime.

For Toyota's diesel cars in India, one can remove the water from the filter quite easily, there is a bowl under the filter & a nut below which has to be loosened. Operate the fuel pump for about a few minutes till the water accumulated is removed.

Yes, I'm aware. But, not all Toyota Diesels uses this system. Etios, Innova and Fortuner uses the Denso life time filters while the Corolla uses a technology which needs replacement every 20,000 kms.

Also, composed the replacements done on my car till now ( 86,000 kms ) with their unit price. Might be useful for this thread.

The left side Rear View Mirror Glass of our Xylo E8 broke due to hit by a 3 three wheeler while wrongly overtaking me.

The car has Electric Mirrors. The Electric Adjustment Mechanism is working (I have checked) properly in all four directions.

I want to buy only the Mirror Glass and fix it. But its not possible locally as the Aftermarket shops as well as MMASS does not stock Glass Separately (due to Low Margins if only Glass is purchased).

If any Bhpian could help me procure only the Mirror Glass alongwith the White Gears as shown in 2nd and 3rd Pictures above, I dont mind paying him Rs.50-100/- towards Courier Charges over the Price of Mirror Glass.

Guys, our 2008 Corolla Altis VL met with an accident and is now at Madhuban Toyota Kurla West Mumbai service center. We are being quoted 56k for left side headlight assembly (projector headlight). I really can't digest this exorbitant price! Any after market dealers from where I can procure the same?

Last year I bought one of these for my Alto & it contains the block & everything in it:
A) The box it came in :

B) The Part-Number & Price :

C) The block with reciprocating & rotating parts :

D) The reciprocating & rotating parts :

If anyone's planning to get one of these, my advice would be to take it apart completely & inspect everything.
In my case, I wanted to bore-out the block a bit, hence disassembled it & found that water had somehow accumulated in the oil holes in main bearings leading to some rusting of the journals.
Wouldn't have been wise to have just installed it in the car without an inspection

Thanks for the pics and the advice. I will be purchasing a half engine kit soon for my friend's 800 and the mechanic was saying that we don't need to disassemble anything and is as easy as plug and play job. This advice couldn't have come at a better time.
