Re: 2014 Toyota Innova Facelift - Now Launched!

Today's add in a local daily said some offers like "Key 4 Key". Existing Innova owners can swap the keys with new Innova with no down payments and just EMI.

Not sure how many of the existing happy Innova owners would do that suicide

Re: 2014 Toyota Innova Facelift - Now Launched!

Just noticed in the brochure that peak torque in the BSIV variant is now available at an even lower RPM and the RPM range is also greater.

BSIII: 200 Nm @ 1400-3400 RPM
BSIV: 200 Nm @ 1200-3600 RPM

This means that the drivability of a vehicle which in the first place was already pretty good, will now be even better. Might be a result to change in ECU programming or the turbo itself.

Did Nissan sell those rear reflectors to Toyota? They are straight out of the Evalia :( And that Z badge looks like an aftermarket sticker job.

Bro, the Indian version never had the turbo. Indian version has 200 Nm torque and is a purely NA unit.

The brochure is of diesel Innova, not petrol Innova.

If there is no turbo, why is there an intercooler, as indicated by a badge on previous generation Innova? By the way, the brochure uploaded by jessie007 itself makes it clear that the engine has turbocharger

EDIT: more info from that brochure - BSIV has intercooler, while BSIII doesn't. I think that explains why peak torque in BSIV engine is available at a wider RPM range.

OT:
I don't think there is any passenger car sold in India with naturally aspirated diesel engine (I don't know about Ambassador, but I don't think most of us even care).

LOL. The Innova has always and I mean from the time it was launched had a Turbocharged engine. The intercooler was added 2 years back as an update but no increase in power.

True. Innova had a "light" turbocharged motor since day 1. Inter-cooler was added to Innova in 2012 when in 13 Mega Cities the Emission norms moved to higher Euro 4 and rest of the country moved to Euro 3.

When we purchased Innova in April 2012, I tried very hard to get the E-4 version but it was not available in my city as my city does not come under mega city tag.

The biggest problem with Innova is an extremely ( and irritatingly ) noisy engine which certainly lack grunt on highways.

I just checked out the official toyota site and found that the Innova infact has a turbo charger and the BSIV has an intercooler too. Well what can I say, I feel the ground below me has shifted, I feel so ashamed :lol.
I was always in this perception that the Innova's unit was always a NA unit. It felt so much like that, and also I did not feel any turbo kick and any prominent whistle when I drove it. With 2.5 L displacement and only 200 Nm torque and 100 bhp, and Swift's DDis unit making 190 Nm of it with a 1.3 unit, I thought the Innova was NA.
Feeling strange :lol.
Anyways, must be an extremely extremely mild turbo.

Can a newly launched vehicle be moved directly to the W&W thread?
What was Toyota thinking, when they designed that grill? Looks downright ugly.

I am sorry but your persistence that Innova doesn't have a turbo brought a little laughter at my end (in a good way. I think it was a more of a reflection o Toyota)

Exactly. Maybe that was one reason why ahmad.007 felt what he did.

My father is one of those who is hell bent on committing that suicide. He doesn't trust the XUV500 brand and hated the seats and high climb of the Fortuner and the price ofcourse. The only 7 seater he is left with and he doesn't regret at all is the Innova. I have been using all my energies to keep him from buying a new Innova.

On this forum many of us are too eager to criticize Innova for all the things it is not. But very few give it credit for being the best in all the things it is. And that reflects in the sales figures. The XUV500 came and people predicted doom for the Innova. The Ertiga came and same thing happened. The Duster, ecosport, Terrano, Storme all have come and yet the Innova is still selling in good numbers. So I guess they must have got something good going for the car.

Yea exactly. I don't know what kind of a turbo is there which does not at all feel like a turbo. Atleast the NVH should have been down. Maybe it has a chinese turbo. :lol
