Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

Maruti Suzuki begins mass production of YRA / Fronx, will rival Hyundai's Elite i20 & Honda's New Jazz.
Could launch in late 2015?

Maruti Suzuki could make this the most fuel efficient hatch in India.

When launched, the Fronx will come with 3 engine options:
•K10C, 998cc, Boosterjet petrol motor with automatic & manual gearbox
•K12 petrol motor from the Swift
•D13, 1.3L DDiS diesel motor with 90 PS
Reports also mention that the Fronx would be the widest hatchback in the segment, hence offering a more comfortable cabin.

Exteriors:

•Noticeably different from all Maruti products currently on sale, fresh design
•Honeycomb mesh front grille extending towards the headlamps
•Headlamps look slightly similar to those on the Swift, but have their share of differences
•Round fog lamps in a plastic housing
•Regular, horizontal air dams
•Turn indicator mounted on power folding ORVM
•Side body moulding
•Chrome door handles
•Gloss black B & C pillar
•Noticeable rear quarter glass
•16″ rim size
•Rear wash and wipe
•Spoiler on the rear windscreen
•Small tail lamp unit, doesn’t look like an LED unit
•Reflectors on the rear bumper
•Much bigger boot space than the Swift
•Flat dashboard top
•Big infotainment screen in the centre
•Centre console in silver shade
•Automatic climate control
•Blue and white backlit instrument cluster
•MID in the instrument cluster

Interiors

•Steering wheel with audio and telephone controls, probably cruise control as well
•Silver centre console
•Automatic climate control
•Dual din stereo head unit
•Vertical AC vents in the centre
•Engine start / stop button
•2-pot instrument cluster
•MID in the instrument cluster
•Leather wrapped, much better looking gear knob
•Automatic gear stick suggests a petrol automatic variant
•All-black interiors
•Black and grey seat upholstery
•Driver armrest with storage
•Storage bin ahead of the gear stick
•5 adjustable neck restraints
•No rear seat centre armrest
•Rear defogger
•Reverse parking camera
Maruti Suzuki has set a whopping Rs. 100 crore budget for advertising campaigns of the YRA / Fronx.

Hope Maruti doesn't make the doors out of plastic to achieve this tag!

Yep - we get it; completely! Fresh design, except for the Swift's headlights!

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

Guys,

Here is the YRA -Maruti's Premium hatch, undisguised and ready for next launch after the S Cross! Speculated a September launch, would rival Hyundai's Elite and the yet to be released Honda's New Jazz!

Quote:
As for the technical specification of the Maruti Suzuki YRA, the company will introduce three specific engine options, a K10C 1.0 liter duel jet – Boosterjet engine, a 1.2 k- Series engine and a D13 1.3 DDis engine with 90HP diesel mill.

DRL’s in YRA now moved to headlight’s from bumper, 16″ 16 spoke alloys. The 1 Liter Boosterjet mill is expected to deliver 23 Kmpl, while the 1.3 D likely to bring out 27.8 Kmpl.

Now, the 1.2 k- Series engine is same as the one found on the Swift, this can be rejuvenated to breathe new life into the YRA. The K10C could possibly get Start-Stop technology as well. LED tail-lamp is visible in spyshot with chrome garnish on boot door .

To keep the YRA above its counterparts, Maruti will focus on offering latest in technology gadgets and premium features like the Sat Nav, keyless entry system, steering-mounted controls and new infotainment system with touch screen.

Really?? IMO the current amount of chrome is just right and looks quite premium atleast from this distance.

The estate styled, swept back designed Maruti Suzuki YRA will be the widest, longest and the lightest hatchback in its segment and is expected to lead the class.
Lightest, which means build quality similar to Ciaz?

Is it? The car in pictures look like the left hand drive, am i missing something or its just me who thinks its a left hand drive? Indian version should be right hand drive only.

The images are badly photoshoped with a left hand drive vehicle. Does not look reliable.

YRA will be exported from India to other markets - so this could be one of them.

The YRA will be about 4.2 metres in length, however for India its length will be reduced to just under 4 metres.

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

if this is to be of 4.2 m length, it will not hold the excise duty benefits. This could shoot up the price and would be out of the competition with ELite I20.

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

If Maruti if still importing K10C engines for testing, it is definitely not expected in India this year. Maruti would not plonk an imported engine into any of its cars. This engine debut in India will take another 12-18 months at least.

It would be fair to expect YRA to come with Swift engines with very basic tweaks.

Black looks good on YRA. The side looks great, its almost perfect, the flowing character makes it stand out among the other Suzuki. Long, wide, another jackpot for Maruti.

Do I see projectors there? Or provision for projectors?

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

Having seen a few undisguised pictures, my first reaction is I hate that line that runs along the side starting from the edge of the bonnet to the tail lamps. The worst point is at the rear view mirror on the front door's where it dips down and again moves up from the door handles. What is that?! It's making the car look weird. Hope Maruti-Suzuki rethinks on retaining that one in the final production version.

This will take away my nights sleep, it looks THAT AMAZING. God grant me money, and GRANT it to me RIGHT NOW.

I think this is the best thing that will happen to Maruti after the Swift.

Re: Rumour: Maruti Suzuki developing YRA B+ segment hatchback

This is quite surprising ! , the initial spy shots of the YRA looks quite different to the latest spy shots

The YRA spied a around 6 months ago looked like it had borrowed swift's head light design and looked more sedate, whereas the spy shots around now suggests it is going to look more like the concept revealed earlier this year?

Attaching both the earlier spy shots and the recent ones and its quite obvious they look very different , can someone clarify which the one that is going to be launched ? I am hoping the YRA Fronx when launched looks as per the latest spy shots.

Pics taken from the internet and merged side by side for comparison

The international version of YRA/Fronx has a length of 4,023 mm or 4.02 metres mentioned on its preliminary specification sheet.

Shaving off 23 mm or 0.02 metres from the car's bumpers is not a big task at all, and can be done very easily.

I'm sure Maruti Suzuki will position the car in the sub-4m space to attract a lower excise slab - no doubts about it.

Well spotted! Yes, it does look like there is some kind of change in the headlamps in the latest spy photos, and they seem to resemble the Swift's headlamps less now.

Higher resolution spy photos (of a car without black tape stuck on the headlamps) are needed to confirm the headlamp change.
