Re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

I got hold of details on the "probable pricing" from a reliable source a short while ago. I also learnt that this is the outcome of an internal meeting from yesterday evening and that the final decision will be made by next week.

My guess is that Maruti is watching Jazz sales and the awaiting Creta pricing before making a final decision.

Now, here's what I got:

S-Cross DDiS200 Sigma to retail at 8.5 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi.

Here's my inference:

S-Cross DDiS200 Alpha may be slotted at 10.5 lakhs ex-showroom.

Would you know the price difference between 1.3 and 1.6? If 1.3 alpha is 10.5, how much is 1.6 Alpha for?

Comparisons restart as launch nears, hope pricing part works out true!
Pricing is most likely to undercut the upcoming launch of its competition.

Hi Abhi99, I did ask if an estimate of the base 1.6 was also available, but it was not. In fact, the the price for the 1.3 Alpha is also only a speculation.

From what I understood, only the lower end of the pricing was kind of frozen.

Re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

The USPs are a typical case of misleading marketing.

They've used the torque figures from the more powerful engine option, and the FE figures from the less powerful but more efficient option.

If thats the case it ll be priced similar to Ciaz ZDI+ ie around 12.3-12.4 OTR. So Maruti lll lose some customers to the Ciaz (Sibling rivalry). Nexa has not jump started its premium programme. The average Indian buyer who is value conscious will start picking up the Ciaz top end instead of the alpha.

What does Maruti give in the 1.3 alpha over the Ciaz ZDI+
-Cruise control
-Weight and solid feel
-HIDs
- Automatic lamps and wipers

Ciaz advantages
-Long car with lots of leg room
-Boot space
-Beige interiors (more premium for the layman)
-Rear AC vents
-More pickup (being 200kg lighter)
-Better ride in the town (softer suspension).

Maruti guys should have lot of guts to price the 1.3 Alpha on par or more than the Ciaz.

It is more expensive to manufacture a crossover. Yet they sell so much more than Sedans these days. Market prefers something that has the best of both worlds it is just that simple. Infact when compared to the Ciaz, I'd say it is no contest. Being a low-slung sedan, what does the Ciaz have going for it? Just better pickup due to light build and more leg room? That isn't enough. The S-Cross being taller is still supposedly better around corners and rides better out on the highway while at the same time it won't be flustered by bad roads. It seems like the S-Cross eclipses the Ciaz in nearly every way I mean it is better at being a sedan than the Ciaz itself LOL

Re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

There is no doubt that cross is a much better package. I am trying to voice the opinion of an average indian buyer. But for a layman not following the auto industry Ciaz might appear to be a more tempting package. I have zeroed on the s cross but my better half thinks that Ciaz is better.

Re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

This whole saga of the S-Cross only at NEXA takes me back to the year 1996, when we had to make a 240 kilometres trip to Bangalore to take delivery of our Maruti Suzuki 800.( still trusty at age 19 )
Rolling back to 2015, the nearest Maruti showroom stands 15 kilometres away.
Assuming, I am interested in the S-Cross and soon find the closest NEXA to be a 5 hour hop for a test drive, more choices make way in the mind.
Dear S-Cross, You are not a Vitara or not as expensive as one.
Moreover, we have micro showrooms/offices of Hyundai, Renault and Ford and their service centres at Mysore (less than 150kms)
Plenty to ponder and forget a Maruti you trust.

Hey, I liked your review. I had a few doubts. First is about the reverse sensor. Are the readings displayed on the MID or are they just beeps? And in one section of your video I see that the MID changes colour to orange from white. Is this true?

Re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

Most Relationship Managers are selling the S-Cross booking with a '100% refund on cancellation ' clause. IMO, that isn't a positive way to sell the car. Instead the RM should share facts and figures to show how a customer may like the car compared to x,y, z competition and give confidence to retain the booking. Maybe Maruti also wants to build a sizeable number of bookings to boast on launch day that they have 'xxxx' number of bookings, who knows.

They're actually on a sticky wicket here, Maruti. They know that if Creta is priced well [and by that I mean <12L for 1.6 diesel sx(O)] it is definitely going to create a disruptive impact on sales of the 1.6 DDiS variants of S-Cross. Which is probably why Maruti is displaying the 1.3 DDiS at the malls and is also the one the RMs are pushing while booking (true?).

I have the feeling it is a good car but not sure if Maruti got the timing right. Interestingly, the fate of both the products are down to how the maker of the other competing model is going to price their products, me feels. The market awaits!

Re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

I think MSIL is going to undercut the pricing of Creta by a significant margin with 1.3 MJD.

What I am unable to call is the pricing for 1.6 MJD. Maybe, it depends on the number of engines MSIL can ship month on month from Italy.
