They may have been failures for Maruti, but even failed models have sold more individually, than many manufacturers total production.

For buyers in the 8-12L segment, creta may be a love at first sight, but scross is going to be the love during life. It's another ritz kind of affair, imo. Whoever has driven ritz, has always loved its attitude. The same or better may happen to scross, as its design is not a blocker for any, unlike ritz.

For me, the ritz had the worst rear styling and a-star the worst front styling. Design of the S cross would have looked good in 2010 and would have slotted just below the polo in terms of fuss free design. To me it certainly looks on par and better than its cross-over competetion, barring the i20 active. Maruti should have attempted an autobox. Creta looks a stunner, but the space inside feels premium and I did not like the quality of plastics on the interiors (the look of it) and that hideous 5 inch AVN unit on the lower trims. Creta will compete with the suzuki compact suv in their pipeline i supose. Full options diesel creta wil come to around 16L-17L OTR which will be way out of budget for the 8-12 L customer, unless they settle for a lower end model like the S or the 1.4 slowcoach, by paying a premium of 1-2 lacs over the relatively punchy 1.3DDIS.

Maruti did not want another engine bashing by media and enthusiasts and thats probably why they brought in the 1.6. I think national engine would do ok on the s cross. Waiting for reviews and TD of the 200 DDIS.

I guess you missed RaveAvi's post!! Creta top end wont be over 14.5L OTR even in your city at least if we go by the numbers (Ex-Kolkata) given by RavenAvi. He said repeatedly that the number are almost final (+/- 10K). So I dont think Creta SX(O) would be 17L OTR for your city !!!

For the pre-booked lot, prospective buyers and anyone else interested and residing in North-West Bangalore:

The S-Cross is on display at The Orion Mall, Rajajinagar, from around 11.00am on Sat, the 18th, until 6.00pm on Sun, the 19th.

I guess this exhibit is shared between two Nexa dealers as the one I have booked with informed me that they are available on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon.

It will also be on display at Forum Mall Koramangala 17-19 July as per information from Pratham Nexa

I think Maruti should have highlighted the all wheel disc brakes also.

The only one in the segment to have them.

Verna SX(o) sells for an OTR price of 13.l3 L in the city
I think the SUV demands at least 1.5 - 2L premium over the verna. So logic would bring the price close to 14-14.5L for SX(O) and 13.5L for SX+.
Maruti will have to price the S cross below these, atleast to generate an interest. Even a person like me who has booked the 1.6 alpha will get lured to the Hyundai camp at those prices. (I dont mind 4-5 mo waiting period). Maruti will have to price the 1.3 alpha a shade below 12L and 1.6 below 13 L to lure a person interested in both.

Speculated launch date from Nexa personnel is August 4th / 5th. Vehicles for display are now at a few Nexa dealers (godown). TD will be available at launch date.

Re: The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)

Cyber Hub is becoming the hub to spot to-be-launched vehicles!
Suzuki-Nexa have hosted their display stand for S-Cross.
Some information shared by the DSE.
1) Variants are named "Alpha", "Beta" etc
2) 1.3L diesel and 1.6L diesel (320 NM torque )
3) Well above 4m mark and spacious
4) Premium feel of all the materials
5) 180 mm GC
6) All wheel Disc brakes
7) Ciaz will not be hosted in Nexa showroom
8) Launch is around last week of July

Below are some pics I clicked for the site.

Decent splash of chrome around fog lamps as well. DRL LED and projectors: Check

I could see 2 Hella horn units. Exorbitant splash of chrome: Check
The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)-scross-grill-radiator.jpg

1.3L engine on display. Suzuki has asked to highlight 1.6L torque to everyone! 320Nm is no small feat from 1.6L engine
The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)-scross-1.3-engine.jpg

Adequate free space available in engine bay. Servicing will be easier
The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)-scross-engine-bay-space.jpg

Hood insulation in diesel: Check

Nozzles neatly tucked away from sight
The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)-scross-wipers-nozzle.jpg

Wheel arches have insulation. Tyre is R16 and (maybe) standard across all variants. Ground clearance is 180mm. Disc brakes on all wheels

The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)-scross-rearwheel-arch.jpg

Dashboard is clean and has a premium touch to it. Auto Climate Control, Light sensing headlamps: Check

Steering wheel has audio and phone controls tucked on the shaft

Seat belt adjuster: Check
The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)-scross-seat-belt-adjuster.jpg

Spacious rear seat. Good thigh support. However, there is a massive hump making the 3rd passenger feel unwelcome.
The Maruti S-Cross. (Details released: Page 38)-scross-rear-seat-space.jpg

No badging of variant was seen on the back. Parking sensor: Check
