re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

New Suzuki Ignis to debut at Tokyo motor show 2015.

The production version of the Ignis, like the Baleno, closely sticks to the concept car’s styling. It sports a large grille with encapsulated headlights, a clam-shell bonnet and blacked-out A- and B-pillars. The wheel arches are flared, and the car rides on 18-inch 10-spoke alloy wheels. It gets projector headlamps instead of LED units as seen on the concept. The Ignis also does away with the three-slat vents on the sides which were seen on the concept.

Also available will be a start-stop system which Suzuki calls the SHVS or Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki. Since the manufacturer is calling the Ignis a compact crossover, there is a possibility it'll be equipped with the firm’s All-Grip AWD system

More pics released here

Seems to be confirmed that this will be positioned below the YBA & will compete with cars like the Mahindra S101

Dash looks funky. Rear looks a lil ugly.

re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

The front end looks great...but hope they slightly redesign the rear end.
In the photo where it is parked next to a GV, didn't look too small, probably Ecosport size

Suzuki seems to be on a name recycling spree
First Baleno, Then Ignis!!
If i remember correctly, Maruti was supposed to launch a car named IGNIS sometime in late 90s/ early 2000. I vividly remember a cover photo of a bright yellow car on Autocar india with the caption " Ignis, the fire in maruti's belly"

Maruti Please Mate a 6 speed Torque Converted Automatic to a DDIS in this for Petes sake. It will set the markets on FIRE.

re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

I really like the looks of it. Its small and cute. If this baby is launched in India, it would be a great replacement for my Wagon R in 2017-18. Compact and nimble with good ground clearance would be great considering the pathetic roads in my city. This could be a contender for city car for me whenever I plan. The way Maruti is providing safety features in base versions, maybe I can settle down for the base version itself.

re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Looks like Kia Soul got a bad makeover job and ended up with the rear of a Maruti 800!!

That has got to be the most ugliest rear ever!!

re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

The dimensions make it more like a Grand i10. Please see the comparison of dimensions:
Ignis - 3,700 x 1,660 x 1,595mm (as per IAB report) - L*W*H
Grand i10 - 3,765 x 1,660 x 1,520mm
Around 65mm shorter, and 75mm higher than Grand i10.
What do we get from this? Probably the GC would be increased to justify the Crossover tag to around 180 or 190mm. And a little bit higher interiors.
In India, there may not be any need for a 4*4. And also, such a short car, may not get the CVT, but would receive AMT just like Celerio.
This seem to be probably targetted at buyers between B1 and B2 segments. (4 - 6L).
We cannot comment on the exteriors now, because, most probably they will make all necessary modifications to make the car more likeable to local population.

re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

That's some uncanny tribute to the old Maruti 800 of 1980s!!

Rear Glass

Shark gill design

Blackened Bumper

Squary sections in tail lights...

Just joking though. But I find a lot of similarities between the two in picture...

re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

Is it only me who feels like this is a bloated version of the currently selling Alto 800? Feels like they just increased the size of the Alto 800 by a few inches from all sides.

Doesn't the rear remind you of the Sipani Dolphin?

re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

My very first post in TBHP, thanks a ton to the Admin group.

Coming to the car, the front looks very nice but rear is an eye sore. Will this take on the Kwid? As Suzuki has the Ecosport segment covered with YBA?

Thanks for the photo comparison. I was thinking the same. Glad to know am not alone in this thought that the Ignis looks like the original SS80. The blue color is also very similar.

re: The Maruti-Suzuki Ignis

The car will look below ordinary without those good looking alloys and projector lamps. We can also forget about 4WD, its not even an option in S-Cross.
