Barring the leather and soft touch surfaces, I think the Renegade interiors are pretty nice.
I ve spent good amounts of time checking it out on various trips abroad.
But yes, the Yeti is lovely. Has held up nicely these last 6 years.

Re: Jeep Renegade spied testing in India

Economic Times carries an article on Jeep in connection with the Compass launch. In this they mention that the Renegade is to be launched in the near future carrying a price tag of (I quote) "nearly ten lacs".
My first reaction is a stunned mental WOW! Can this possibly have a ring of truth? If this is going to be real then the Brezzas, Ecosports and the (soon to be launched) Nexons - and maybe the C segment sedans - had better watch out. There's going to be 'a load of compromisin'.
And good for us car lovers.

Re: Jeep Renegade spied testing in India

The article states the price range for Compass between 15-23 lakh. If that is true then it is only logical that Renegade would be 10-15 lakh. That is seriously mouth watering!

Are you paying attention Ford and Tata Motors?!

Rumor - Jeep renegade to launch at 10lacs

Some really interesting news! I hope it's true. Will shake up the already exciting compact SUV market.

At that price, I wonder what the engine lineup will look like? 1.3 90hp diesel and 1.4 110hp TJet for the base variants?

Unless they have plans to localize the 1.6 diesel, I don't see the Renegade getting priced so low down without a major compromise on engines.

At least they can launch the second version of the 1.3 MJD with the Renegade which outputs better power and is more refined as well. The tuning and great ratios would also play a major role that Jeep can also modify for the only 1.3 Renegade, if it is, in the world.

The age old t-jet should be more than up for moving the Renegade though. Or the 1.4 multi air with a much lower tune.

That sounds like a perfectly safe conclusion to draw. Or unless they are plonking an already locally available 1.6 diesel(??), I dont see how they can go under the 10 L radar.

Why is there so much noise about the output of particular engines! A 1.6 L diesel (I read somewhere in the forum a while ago) is putting out 400 n-m. Now that's seriously high torque from a 1.6 L diesel. But that's also serious high tech - to allow for the much higher stressing of the engine scantlings due to the correspondingly higher peak pressures.

The point is that getting a couple of dozen bhp/n-m out of an existing engine without seriously compromising stress limits is common today, and one need not read too much in the figures.

Re: Rumor - Jeep renegade to launch at 10lacs

Jeep Renegade will not be priced at 2/3rds of the Compass. If the compass starts 16L, there is no way, Renegade will be sub-10L.

The cheapest Renegade abroad is UK pounds 24500.
https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/jeep/renegade

The cheapest Compass abroad is UK pounds 30000
http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/car-rev...k-2017-review/

So the renegade will be 20% cheaper. So that means if the Compass starts INR 16L, the Renegade will be INR 13 L or so

The 2.0 L CRDI will power the Jeep Renegade. The 1.6 CRDI being exported will be more expensive. There are no plans to manufacture the 1.6 locally in India. In case it were then Tata and Suzuki would have already lined up contracts to buy 100,000 1.6 CRDI engines
http://indianautosblog.com/2017/05/7...ta-q501-265969
Tata have already placed orders for 70K units of 2.0L Multijet. Any 1.6 local manufacture plans and they would have placed 140K orders for the same

Spotted this parked Renegade yesterday. The camouflaging was almost half gone. Couldn't take better pictures as it was pretty dark. Waited for the driver for long but he didn't show up.

Some points:-

1) The touch screen looked tiny.
2) The front seats were very good with ample under thigh and side support. Even the rear had good space for passengers.
3) It was a 2WD version.
4) The car had ordinary roof rails.
5) The footwell area was decent.
6) The rear wiper swipe area was not satisfactory.

That's the 5 inch system found in the base models of Compass as well. Mostly the top variants will get the 7 inch touch screen HU.

Re: Jeep Renegade spied testing in India

Jeep RENEGADE again,

Some other features will include leather upholstery (test car has fabric seats though!) and a climate control system. From the pics it can be also inferred that the gear shift knob and the electronic parking brake feature could be shared with its elder sibling.

As for powertrain options go, it is unlikely that the Jeep Renegade will share its engine options with the bigger Compass. Instead the company might offer a 1.6-litre diesel engine that also powers the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross. This unit develops nearly 118 PS and a whopping 320 Nm. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and come with the legendary Jeep 4-wheel drive system

Re: Jeep Renegade spied testing in India

Renegade has excellent potential for modifications.

Wonder if it'll capture the fancy of the youth who loves the Thar (and most of them are not hardcore offroaders) but consider it too impractical, or just be considered as too boxy and utilitarian for this class and price of car?

Renegade will basically fight it out with the upcoming Suzuki Jimny/Gypsy for fancy of the youth and mod friendly off-road vehicle.

Is the zuki Jimny slated to come to India? This renegade really looks the part... And trust fiat to bring this in to shake the market up... All over again!

Top of my list for a single guy/nuclear family who want to explore.
