Five years down the line it is quite possible that Crysta will command the same premium in the 2nd hand market. When it comes to TCO, probably what we may lose out is on the interest on capital, than capital itself. Of course, ignoring experience associated with owning an Innova vis-a-vis XUV.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016

Went over to Harsha Toyota and check out the Innova Crysta. They had 4 models on display but no TD available. THe models on display were the 2.4 G,VX and the 2.8 GX,ZX. There was huge crowd in the showroom yet I was attended to as soon as I stepped in, with a greeting card that showed that Toyota treats all their customers equally, it was printed in both Eng/Tamil.

All pictures shot with my phone, please excuse the quality.

The four variants were displayed in four different colours Garnet Red 2.8 ZX, Grey 2.8 GX, Super White 2.4 G, Silver 2.4VX.

Walk upto to the Innova and open the door and you can feel the weight difference compared to the older one. Next it retains its signature move where you can walk into the Innova rather than climb into it. There is immediately a sense of luxury and comfort. The new dash is impressive and extends further toward you compared to the older one.The seats are way more plush and cushion you brilliantly. The steering wheel is nicely sized and chunky. Then you notice the Illumination ring in the G,GX and VX variants.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-ill-ring.jpg

The ZX is fully keyless and gets the start-stop button.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-eng-strt-stp.jpg

The dials on the ZX are superb and it gets the 4.2" TFT screen whereas the GX gets a smaller screen with basic dials.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-dial-comparo.jpg

The cruise control stalk on the ZX variant.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-cruise-cntrl.jpg

The GX door-pad is just plastic and there is no fabric.

Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-gx-drpad.jpg

The VX doorpad has a nice cushy fabric in the door pad arm-rest and piano black inserts.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-vx-frnt-drpad.jpg

The ZX has Tan colored fabric and faux wood.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-zx-drpad.jpg

All variants get the warning lamps on the doors. The G/GX get it in red and VX/ZX in white.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-door-ajar-lamp.jpg

The VX and ZX get the front roof lamps with ambient lighting. Whereas the GX and G get the standard 2 map lights and sunglass holder.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-intex-cloud-swift_20160502_172243.jpg

The dash of the G and GX get this black strip with a different pattern texture compared to the faux-wood in the VX and ZX.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-gx-dash.jpg

The ICE in the VX variant.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-avn.jpg

The ACC in the ZX and VX variant.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-acc.jpg

The spring loaded grab handles in the 2nd row also get coat hooks. The 2nd row also get reading lamps next to the handles.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-2nd-row-lamp.jpg

The front seats are super comfortable and contours are just perfect. If you are chauffeur driven do get the 7-seater, those captain seats redefine comfort.

The raging debate- Has the interior space shrunk? NO! Has it improved? YES! Then why are people complaining of reduced space? Simple, its the black interiors and the seats which are a whole size larger playing pranks with your mind. I set the front seat for a 6 ft adult and then adjusted the 2nd row the same way and got into the 3rd row and i was pretty happy in there. This is purely my view.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-space.jpg

The middle passenger in the 3rd row also gets a 3-point seatbelt.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-3rd-row-stblt.jpg

Move to the rear and press the well damped rubber button to open the boot and immediately you realise the weight of the boot and it is way heavier than the one on my older Innova. The VX/ZX get a small request button to lock unlock the rear hatch next to the larger button whereas the same is covered with plastic in the G/GX.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-tail-hatch-button.jpg

The tail lamps have grooves in them for better airflow.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-tail-lmp.jpg

UNDER THE HOOD

Open the hood of both the 2.4 and 2.8 GD engines and you'd be stumped to find a difference, sadly neither of them get a engine cover.

2.4
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-2.4.jpg

2.8
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-2.8-diesel.jpg

Air filter box has become square now, was round earlier.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-2.8-air-filter.jpg

The fuse box and battery are located in the same place.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-fuse-box-battery.jpg

SAFETY

The G/GX/VX et 3 airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX mounts as standard. While the ZX get 7 airbags, 2 each on the A&C pillar.

Other miscellaneous points:

* Priced aggressively or stupidly, the brand value of the Innova is strong and I witnessed at least more than 5 people booking it on the spot.

* The brakes now powerful enough to bring this 1.9tonne cruiser to a stop from 0-100KPH in 44m.

* Earlier you had to strp the 3rd row seats to the rear grab handles. now they have a dedicated slot.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-seat-lock.jpg

* The G/GX gets a Black grille with silver accents whereas the VX/ZX get ones in silver colour with chrome accents.

* The ZX gets a neat chrome strip below the window line.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-chrm-strp.jpg

* The GX steering wheel is bare bones with only 1 button to change MID display.

* The auto box.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-auto-box.jpg

* The speaker grilles get a cool design.
Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016-fr-spkr.jpg

* The ORVM button has moved up to the door-pad now and is a joystick now, be carefull while using it you cannot moved it in the center position.

* The G/GX variant gets one-touch up/down window for the driver side. Whereas VX/ZX get all four windows with one-touch up/down. The ZX also gets a electrically foldable ORVMs and the button is located next to the ORVM adjustment joystick.

* The center arm-rest is deep and padded only in the VX/ZX variants and is just plastic in the G/GX.

* The alloys on the G/GX/VX look better than the ones on the ZX.

Overall I really loved the new Innova Crysta and it is the only replacement for my existing Innova. The pricing is not too bad for the manual versions. Will be taking a TD tomorrow at a different dealer.

Awesome price. This will certainly make all other Competitors run. Auto-Gear is a welcome addition. In bangalore, the top of line works out to 25Lakhs, and there's isn't any other competation. Toyota rocks. Let's start the celebration.

Really?
As far as sales chart go, no other Indian car costing upward of 15L managed the sales numbers of XUV.

The key differentiator with Crysta is 170 PS engine, which could justify a high price tag. Still, 25L for an Innova on road in BLR sounds quite a lot. Even then, it is bound to sell in decent numbers, considering the Toyota fan following in India.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016

Pricing looks decent considering that there is a lot more on offer this time with the Innova. However, knowing what they did with the Fortuner, the prices would go up by a good amount over the next 12-18 month and this will enable them to launch the Fortuner at an even higher price

Hope I am seriously proved wrong.

I see the mid variants to sell more given it covers the most bases and would suit the taxi market too who will lap it up gleefully.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016

prices as received from Toyota Dealership

G 13,99
GX MT 14,88
GX AT 16,18
VX MT 17,72
ZX MT 19,62
ZX AT 20,92

The difference between GX - AT with larger engine & transmission vs GX 2,4 Manual is about Rs 1,3 Lac whereas between ZX Auto with Z Manual where the only change is Auto Transmission is still 1.3 Lac - am I missing something or is this correct.

I can forsee some waiting for GX - Auto variant at these prices. Apparently they are starting deliveries from 13th/15th and enough cars have been dispatched to dealers for deliveries. This is something guys from FORD should learn.

Sir what are you saying. It had a lottery allotment system when it was launched. For a car with a base model costing upwards of 12 lacs this was quite shocking. I don't know its current sales, but certainly at one point it was the best selling SUV priced under 20 lacs.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016

The official website is updated with the Innova Crysta.

Since competition and every other car has gone premium, why not Toyota.

A few years back, Fortuner was available for this price. Even AT Fortuner was at 22.5 L ex-showroom Delhi.

Who said cars are a depreciating asset !

2.4L ZX MT (7-seater) ------Rs 19.47 lakh

2.8L GX AT (7-seater) ------Rs 15.99 lakh

You are comparing ZX MT with GX AT and not ZX AT. Hence the wrong numbers. Both GX and ZX in their AT avatars are approx 1.3 Lakhs costlier than respective MT versions.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016

The VX variant is well equipped but it costs about 3 lakhs more than the GX variant. I am a bit surprised with the positioning of the GX variant. It could have easily been the most sought after model for both the cabbies and the private buyers, had Toyota equipped it with an ICE. In its place, Toyota could have done away with the alloys.
But I guess they wanted the private buyers to go for VX or the ZX variant only and hence this step.

Re: Toyota Innova Crysta @ Auto Expo 2016

Innova is always a good vehicle, it’s very reliable, it can serve you for years and one can easily do 3-4 Lacs kms on it in its life. Tourist people can do lot more in less time as well. New Innova is good but costly. Base model itself will go around 16 lacs on road, that's a big price. For that you will not get many features which car of this price should have. End of the day it will remain MUV only and has looks of that only. Also Innova is big car for sure but it is never a true 7-8 people carrier car. For me it’s like Ertiga which is 5+2 for comfortable long highways drives. Also main drawback for me is its image, it has image of taxi only and will remain same forever. Ladies back home will never like that.

Not comparing but still few thoughts - Ertiga on the other hand looks like more of a car, feels like a car, drives like a car. It has much better mileage than Innova, in fact double for diesel model. It does 85% of the work which Innova can do for you at the 50-60 % of the price. You can always save that money for long drives and hire one whenever you want
