Logic is one of helplessness, I believe. They don't have an autobox suited for the 1.6 DDiS and even in the UK, this engine only had a manual gearbox option when it launched.

Realizing the huge bias in the UK towards automatics, they soon introduced the FIAT -sourced six-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox - dubbed TCSS (Twin Clutch System by Suzuki).

Now we all now how much the imported engine and 6 speed manual gearbox was expensive over the 1.3 diesel. The pricing would have gone very north if they had imported the licensed FIAT dual clutch gearbox as well.

Now that the 2.0 CRDI is ruled out with confirmation that the 1.5 lakh engine order was for 1.3 Multijet, this could get a mid life facelift with the in-house Suzuki 1.5 CRDI engine. Going by the great DiCOR engine that Tata managed, Suzuki should be able to have a great 4 cylinder 1.5 CRDI engine at a later date.

Thanks as usual volkman. Could not find news articles on this but some Nexa RMs have been asking people to wait for the 1.4 petrol turbojet

There are no gasoline engines planned for India in S-CROSS.

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

The S-Cross is a good car. If it's styling was not so dull, and bland, in my opinion, it would have given a serious competition to it's peers. Also, the seating position should have been a little higher.

The first time I drove the S-Cross, I was impressed with the engine, and the handling. It was only the looks which were disappointing. But now, the facelift looks much more acceptable. Even though I didn't like the grill design much, still it is an improvement.

Same in my case also. My RM is pretty sure that Maruti will offer atleast a 1.5L NA petrol engine, since the S cross with that petrol engine is exported to Indonesia, from India.

Shashi

Just thanked Carma2017's post. Carma2017 has been 'spot on' on each of his earlier predictions with Maruti Suzuki specifically the Dzire. So the chances of no gasoline engines is most likely true

100% agree. The facelift is going to be gobbled up like hot cakes. If it has a petrol option, that should easily double the sales. I have driven a diesel Ciaz and diesel S-cross. Though both have the same engine, it feels several notches higher on the S-cross. So much so that I had wondered if the engine on the S-cross had been re-mapped!

Maruti priced the 1.0 Boosterjet above the 1.3 diesel in the Baleno. So the 1.4 boosterjet will not be within budget for Maruti Suzuki. Unless they start producing it locally. The 1.5 NA petrol engine being locally manufactured can be a viable option as the sales will at-least double on introducing a petrol s-cross

New SCross spied in India, expected October launch.

I hope the 1.5 petrol / 1L locally-produced boosterjet, current 1.3 90bhp ddis and locally-produced 1.6 ddis will find their place in the engine bay, making it cheaper and available for a wide range of customers.

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

The substantially facelifted S-cross is doing great in Newzealand. See link below:
http://www.stuff.co.nz/motoring/life...uki-double-act

From the author's own words:
"Prior to this facelift the S-Cross was a fairly conservative-looking crossover. But the facelift project has made some changes to that, particularly via the installation of a substantial new toothy grille with vertical bars. Some don't like this new face - it doesn't worry me - but it has certainly made this Suzuki more recognisable.

More to the point is that the facelift has significantly improved the S-Cross, to the extent it is now contributing strongly to Suzuki's new vehicle sales in New Zealand. It deserves to"

No idea who copied whom, However this Chinese Maxus T60 Pick up truck face looks extremely similar to the S Cross facelift.

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

Just voted for the facelift.

Having said that, it may the best time to buy it before the facelift is launched unless the current looks are too bothering for someone. The facelift will simply take away most of the 70k discounts Maruti is currently offering. The dealers' worries to clear their current stock before GST-rollout will give some more scope for negotiation too.

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

One need not be surprised if the facelift eats away a small pie from the Creta's sales. It looks butch and masculine, just the way the mass market wants it.

I have noticed that there is a lot of cross-shopping going on between the Brezza & S-cross by the mass market. No wonder the discounts are doing a good job, there is noticeable increase in the new S-cross's that I have spotted on the road.

re: 2016 Suzuki S-Cross facelift leaked. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 8.49 lakh

Suzuki's S Cross Facelift while retaining its current set of diesel engines is likely to be joined by the petrol variant -the 1.0L boostejet engine as existing in the global offering.

Big news is, there will be a CVT variant too! ( 6AT)

Boosterjet 1.0l powers/likely to power the following. Seem to be in a variant in future Maruti Suzuki's offerings.

1. Baleno RS
2. Vitara Brezza
3. S Cross
4. 2018 Swift RS

Quote:
Maruti will continue to sell the S-cross in India with the same 1.3- and 1.6-litre diesel engines, but once the facelift is here, the updated 111hp Boosterjet engine is also likely to join the line-up. There’s likely to be a CVT automatic in the mix as well.

I guess that 1.0 Boosterjet on S-Cross comes with 6 Speed Torque Convertor there in UK. Expect CVT, if offered to be mated with that 1.2L Petrol.

Who knows, Maruti may plonk that same 1.2 Petrol from Baleno for CVT & Retain that 1.0 Boosterjet as 'RS' version. S-Cross RS ?
