re: The 6th-gen Hyundai Elantra. EDIT: Launched at 12.99 lakh

For me, I loved the Fluidic theme. It was very Hyundai. Unlike Hyundai of the past, they had some originality in their design. The new I20 and now the new Elantra are a step back for me. Leaving aside, their Identity, to find an altogether new one.
I see why many dislike this one. A very Ford like grill, and a slightly linea like headlamps. They sure have made it work though. But this reminded me of their Jaguarish Sonata

re: The 6th-gen Hyundai Elantra. EDIT: Launched at 12.99 lakh

For me the Fluidic Elantra is still a head turner and this new design isn't going down too well. Is it just me or the interiors look like yesteryear Audi's? look very dated....

But having said that, I am sure the overall improvement as a package will be hard to ignore just like any other new age Hyundai. Hopefully they will do justice to the chassis (assuming it will be better than the current Elantra which in itself is quite good) by giving a good pair of engines.

re: The 6th-gen Hyundai Elantra. EDIT: Launched at 12.99 lakh

The 2017 Hyundai Elantra has been spied again, as per the spy pictures it seems to be a mid-variant as the car doesn't seems to have LED DRLs or Projector headlamps, also it has normal Halogens instead of HID.

The rear of the vehicle is definitely going to be a huge head turner at night! Goes with the Hyundai family, new Tucson will also be featuring similar tail lamps and Elite i20 too has a similar rear face albeit in a much lowered tone.

re: The 6th-gen Hyundai Elantra. EDIT: Launched at 12.99 lakh

I've mentioned this in another thread too, but what's with carmakers using the same design cues over and over again? The tail lights look exactly like the i20s. And it's not only Hyundai. Honda, Toyota and even Mercedes and Audi.

But that aside, the Elantra looks like a good package, despite the relatively bland (as compared to the previous gen) styling. With the Civic, Elantra and upcoming Corolla facelift, this segment is going to get competitive again!

The 6th-gen Hyundai Elantra. EDIT: Launched at 12.99 lakh-elantra.jpg

Looks like the engines options will be a 2L petrol engine and the good old 1.6L diesel engine. Was hoping for a better diesel motor, but looks like the shifting market preference towards petrol motors had them playing it safe.

I had a hunch that the diesel motor would remain the same. I hope that they atleast bump up the power output in the Elantra so as to differentiate it a bit from the Creta and the upcoming Verna.

re: The 6th-gen Hyundai Elantra. EDIT: Launched at 12.99 lakh

The all-new Elantra was spotted on a testing run in Delhi by a TAI member.

Looks like Blue will be one of the shades offered on the D-segment Hyundai competitor.

One can also check out the distinctive Fluidic 2.0 design lines, projectors with LED DRLs, simplistic yet classy alloy wheels and that very distinctive rear (looks like a boot-lid spoiler below all that camouflage?).

Thank you RavenAvi for sharing that info here

IMO Elantra is still the best looking car in its segment and probably couple of segments from above as well.

Recently spotted one cruising next to an Octavia and Cruze on Mysore road, and man the Elantra looked like an Indian Lamborghini !!

With this Blue being introduced, I only hope that Hyundai offer better dynamics and trump everybody by getting a 1.8l CRDi (?) engine or something similar, just to differentiate from its lesser siblings and get it on par with the competition.

If all this happens, rest assured I am going for a Car Shopping in under 3yrs of buying a GT!!

I own a Neo Fludic Elantra CRDI AT. Been driving one over the last 18m. It is a good looking car and its performance was always competitive in the D segment for the price at which it was offered. But...

... will it last the distance?

The car hasnt given me any notable trouble. However, I sense something is not right with this car. The entire interiors right from the door handles to seat sliders and hinges (they look very rich indeed) are generating squeezing sounds. When I am driving alone, the passenger seat lets out squeezing sounds whenever the car moves past a road bump or ditch regardless of the speed. Further, door handles make the sound of plastic wanting itself to tear apart - almost like a squeezing sound, but in reality the opposite is happening with the handle being coaxed to pull the door. This is not a sign of long life and I am a sedate driver.

These are sounds I hear because the source is inside, with the windows rolled up and little ambient noise. But wonder if there are sounds elsewhere in the boot, in the overworked suspension, other nuts and bolts which when give away could mean anything at high speeds. I cannot hear them, but there is no reason to believe their non-existence. It may sound silly, but a silly sound is the first sign of a bigger problem.

I hope things are more robust in the facelift.

re: The 6th-gen Hyundai Elantra. EDIT: Launched at 12.99 lakh

The all-new 6th generation Hyundai Elantra will be launched in the first week of September, according to Car and Bike.

Quote:
In fact the new generation model is made of 53 per cent Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), which has helped build a higher structural rigidity on the model.

Dimensionally the car is 20mm longer and 25mm wider than the existing model, measuring 4610mm in length, 1800mm in width, and 1450mm in height with a wheelbase of 2700mm.

In terms of powertrain options the Elantra is likely to get the same 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines. Hyundai might also bring the new 2.0 litre petrol engine to India and existing 1.6 litre diesel motor is likely to be revised as well. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and automatic. Expected to receive a price tag in the range of 15 lakh to 18 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

re: The 6th-gen Hyundai Elantra. EDIT: Launched at 12.99 lakh

An independent blog reporter has caught the all-new Elantra in it's Electric Blue shade parked somewhere in Gurgaon, and managed to snap interior pictures.

The spied production-ready car, a 6-speed AT, seems loaded to the gills with features - an 8-inch touchscreen HU, multi-function steering wheel with a plethora of buttons, rear AC vents, bottle holders on all doors, parking sensors + reverse camera, a shark fin antenna and projector headlamps + LED DRLs.

This test drive vehicle seems to have a sunroof judging by the first pic.

re: The 6th-gen Hyundai Elantra. EDIT: Launched at 12.99 lakh

As the September launch date nears, the camouflage keeps getting lesser and lesser.

Quote:
The Elantra in the spy images sports a blue shade which looks good at least on a clear rainy day and elegant looking 5-spoke alloy wheels. Details such as a shark-fin antenna, chrome lining on the window sill, projector headlamps and chrome slats on the grille indicate that the vehicle being tested here is a mid-to-top variant. This Hyundai still has a lot of testing equipment attached to it.
