This is my third Toyota and my first 4x4. Can't wait for the rainy season.

Congratulations on your fortuner!

You have found a worthy replacement for your innova. In my opinion the new gen fortuner is a worthy upgrade for the innova owners who need a 4x4+MT. Hope to see this one clock miles the same way your innova did. Good luck!

Update on my booking

My Fortuner delivery is expected to happen on beginning/first half of next week. The delay is due to the delay in getting the special number

Hi Surya,

Looking at the number of New Fortuners on Team-BHP, i wonder how long will it be before your patience runs out and you end up with the New Fortuner.

Did they increase prices? If not can you refuse 2016 car and ask for 2017 one?

I am sure you will be able to throw it at uneven roads without much care other than the SUV excursions. However, I doubt how much of a family mover it is going to be. Nothing beats Innova in that respect, I believe, as well as throwing Innova around corners, having driven both in decent measurable amounts. I guess you will either keep the old workhorse doing its duty or replace it with new one.

Happy miles munching with it just like Innova.
Thanks Alot Parsh!
The Innova is still there and will continue its duty of a daily drive.
Prima facie my mother is happy as she likes to sit high up,So let's see. We are a family of 3 only.
Regarding the registration no., the no. was not present in the current series so they had to jump the series. It costed me Rs. 12,000 of which they gave me an official receipt of 7500. 7 years back Millenium people had charged me Rs. 15,000.

The Fortuner is not a replacement still keeping the Innova for daily driving. The Fortuner will be second car for long distance trips.
Have planned a lot of outstation trips. Let's see how much time I can get out of my work.

I did not check!!! But, as you posted sometime back, I think only the Innova Crysta prices were revised.

My car has been invoiced on 29th Dec 2016 and the engine and chassis numbers given to the RTO for getting the special number.

Insurance has been issued too.

As I intend to keep the car for 8+ years, I feel it would not be an issue to own a 27 Dec 2016 manufactured car.

Hi MAS,

Yes I bought it from here and have been using it for last few days. The product fits perfectly fine and does the job well. Also bought a car cover specific to the new Fortuner, don't remember the brand but is of very good quality with soft material inside, mirror pockets, side zip opening to access the driver door, corner reflector tapes and front/rear straps. It costed around Rs 4800. See pics below.

Also, when are you taking delivery of your new Fortuner? I guess you completed the PDI and registration stuff?

Yeah, they do the job pretty well, oh and make sure you inform the seller that yours is a 4x4 Automatic, since I feel the manual variant will have a different design for the driver mat.

Delivery is in next 2 hours

A question.

Are Toyota Engines allergic to Shell Diesel?

The reason for asking is that while i was taking delivery of my Fortuner, the guy responsible for delivering the car came up to me and advised me not to use Shell Diesel.

I shifted to Shell Diesel last year for all my cars, including the Ford Fiesta, Ford Endeavour and now the Hyundai Creta. I am extremely happy with Shell.

In my past experience, a change to Shell Diesel meant

- No smoke in the exhaust. My Endeavour used to let out embarrassing cloud of smoke under hard acceleration. After shifting to Shell, this had disappeared.

- The engines were running smoother, but were noisier.

- No difference in Mileage

But now, i am worried to fill Shell Diesel in my New Fortuner. Googled and was surprised to see information on Team-BHP itself.

Cross-posting from another thread.

Off late after filling from shell diesel the black smoke/soot is much that it leave black soot marks on the bumper.
Now i need to search a good COCO in Koregaon Park in Pune and in and around Kormangla in Bangalore.

At the Toyota A.S.S , there was a fuel filter damage reported in an Innova that had been tanking up only at Shell.

Anyways , I am a regular at a trusted BPCL bunk close by ; but every time I stop this car to fill up , I pray.

This came to me as a shocker because I fill Shell (petrol, of course) for my cars and am extremely happy with it. The reason given for not recommending Shell diesel was to do with the viscosity levels of the same according to him. Not sure what the exact issue here is. Does anyone have any such feedback from any Toyota dealers ?
Please let me have your inputs and thoughts.

Congratulations once again for acquiring the New Fortuner. The Pearl white shade looks best during evening/night times since it shines like a pearl in low light and your SUV looks lovely!

Have no idea about Shell as its not available here, but better to stick to regular diesel available at all outlets/brands since Shell has a very sparse presence outside metro cities.

Hi, Srikanth

i had a question for you regarding the side cladding of your fortuner, i want to install the same in my super white fortuner but when i had a talk with the guy at accessories department of Millenium Toyota Thane, they said they will paint the whole middle portion of the cladding where Fortuner is written but then it wont be visible and will not be as good looking as i saw it in your Fortuner, please let me know how did they manage to retain the Black color of the word Fortuner while painting.

In May 2016 I bought this car for 32 lakhs inclusive of accessories.

From white to brown, it is a very difficult decision for me, my heart says brown, but everyone known to me told to take white including my wife except my son Anirudh, also there is no white colour at that time in the showroom and they promised to deliver within 2 days if I opted for white. But I followed my heart and my son.

And maintenance wise brown is difficult as Vizag's climate is humid, catches dust easily and sticks to the car like gum, dusting will be difficult. But I have already used white colour. So this aspect dominated my decision making. After driving this car, I felt that old car is a bit sluggish though both cars are tanks. Interiors are absolutely awesome in new generation Fortuner. But previous generation Fortuner's external looks are very intimidating.

My previous Fortuner and new generation Fortuner are both 4*2 automatic.

Primary reasons for the instant success of old Fortuner is the aggressive and muscular styling, large exterior dimensions and Toyota’s brand value. However, all wasn’t right and there were issues about the inadequate braking efficiency and lack of features. And this braking issue is well sorted out in the new generation Fortuner, with lots of safety features. I loved the new generation Fortuner interiors and there is no comparison with Innova Crysta at all regarding interiors and they are completely different. But previous Fortuner is not like that as Innova and old Fortuner interiors are similar. I have compromised with the old Fortuner as there is no other alternative and reliable car at that price point. But initial ownership experience of new generation Fortuner is awesome and time should say of future niggles. I have little fear of niggles as this new generation Fortuner has many more electronics than the previous one. And will come up with few more differences and advantages of new Fortuner than the old one.

Hi sunny,
Yes, it won't be visible without paint work, as yours is superior white, you can try different colour combination with your cladding.
And answer to your question, simply they sticker the grove part of the lettering, i.e letter insert, and simply paint and remove the sticker.
